Katie

I bit down on the inside of my cheeks before mustering the nerves to leave the locker room. The repugnant taste of vomit lingered in my mouth despite me rinsing my mouth out with water and I searched my backpack for some gum.

As I was throwing the wrapper away, my phone started vibrating.

"Excuse me?"  A voice said behind me and I lifted my thumbs from my keypad and turned around

"Excuse me?"  A voice said behind me and I lifted my thumbs from my keypad and turned around.

"Could you help me find Mrs. Carter's classroom?" Adam Decker asked me and I blinked in confusion.

"What are-?" I stopped and stepped back.

"I'm just a fellow classmate trying to locate my teacher's classroom." He smiled and my hand covered my mouth in a gasp.

"You're what?" I asked and he nodded.

"You're looking at Clearwater's newest transfer student." He nodded and a small gasp escaped me. He's a student here now? As in a classmate that will see me everyday?

"I was kidding about the stalker thing but should I call the police?" I asked and a real laugh escaped him.

I wasn't making a joke. I'm genuinely concerned. Why is he here?

"I swear to you I do not want to be here." Adam shook his head and I looked up at him. "However, wants and needs are two different things."

I stared at him, "What happened to Chesterfield?"

"We'd be late to class if I dove into that right now."

"But maybe if you allowed me to take you out on a date, I could explain." He grinned and I stood frozen in front of him.

Just like that? He's asking me out out of the blue. We haven't talked to each other in weeks and he just up and asked me out?

"Or maybe not?" He frowned when I didn't make a move to answer him.

"Mrs. Carters room is upstairs in the Extra Curricular wing, third door on the left." I blinked at him and he rose an eyebrow.

"Avoiding the question,"

"I just answered your question, Adam. You didn't ask me any more questions. You simply stated that you would possibly tell me why you stalked me to my high school if I went out on a date with you. Last I remember, that wasn't asking someone out." I explained before hoisting my backpack on my shoulders.

"Besides, I'm not in a position to date right now," I shrugged before turning to walk to my next class.

Lunch time was buzzing with gossip. Two of Chesterfield high school's most loved and most hated sophomore boys are now students here.

"It's a lively lunch period today," Ivy took a seat across from me. Pulling out her lunch bag, she started prepping a salad.
