As I watched the plane land in the barely sunny streets of Toronto, my nails were tapping anxiously on the windowsill. I stared out the window and let my thoughts run wild of the million outcomes of me seeing Auston again, especially after how we had left everything the last time on Fourth of July. Basically, I went to see him because I had just broken up with my last boyfriend and I had a week off. Anyways, it had been my first time (like that) and a few days later I came into his place, only to hear that he had knocked some other girl up. That's the last time I saw him.
Mitch had hyped him up so much in the last few hours I thought my expectations of the initial moment couldn't get any higher. As I listened to the pilot go on and on about landing procedures and his thank yous, I felt my phone buzz.

I shut my phone, a small smile crossing my face as I fixed my Los Angeles Angels cap and looked out the window at the snowy clouds. Not after long did I feel my best friend poke me with her fingernail and I turned my head to look at her.

"You're smiling," she said as she took a gulp of her water before continuing. "I missed seeing that you know?"

"Seeing what? Me smile? It's not that big of a deal April," and I shook my head at her, standing true by my statement.

"Yes, it really is you've hardly ever smiled and we've all noticed it, so now you finally get a free start I mean you've been in Denver or Los Angeles basically your whole life," and I nodded, growing more and more uncomfortable with the conversation every passing second.

"Oh, look, the plane finally landed!" and I smiled, growing more excited to see my best friend, and the nerves still setting in about seeing Auston for the first time in months. It was weird.

I grabbed my bags, my only older by a year best friend April following close behind, and I went down the escalators until I saw my best friend waving a giant sign that said 'SCARLETT' in big black letters. He dropped the sign once he saw me, and I jumped into his arms.

"Scarlett!" he screamed as he spun me around, a soft giggle escaping my lips.

"Mitchy! Gosh, I missed you Marns," and I ruffled his hair, earning a scrunched face back.

"Steph really wanted to come see you at the airport, but she got busy with a last minute family thing so she says she'll see you tomorrow at the apartment."

"Ugh, I missed my girl, but anyways I heard you and my best friend are trying to set me up without my knowledge," they both nodded at me.

"That's exactly the point of the whole thing."

"Fine then, so where am I meeting him for the first time then?" and he pointed back to where I saw a tall, black hair and brownish eyes leaning against one of the poles scrolling through his phone. Mitch went over and nudged him, and I'm literally not kidding, it felt like I was in the movies.

You know the ones where time stops and it feels like it's just the two of you in the whole universe? Yeah, that was what I was feeling. He smiled at me, sliding his phone back in his pocket.

"Hiya," and I saw a small twinkle in his eyes that almost stopped me in my tracks.

"Hiya back," and I smiled back at him, another giggle escaping my lips as he raised my hand and softly pressed his lips to the knuckles.

"It's a pleasure to meet you in person gorgeous."

"Well, it's a pleasure to finally meet you in person," and we both giggled, not noticing Mitch and April behind us.

Once we were both finally snapped out of whatever we were in, we followed them to our luggages and the rental car Mitch had gotten for us to use while we were in the city. All the while there, we both couldn't keep our eyes off each other, and I couldn't help but want to know more about my new favourite person.
