Welcome to Scottsdale, Arizona

As soon as she crossed the town line, all those emotions she had been suppressing on her five and a half hour drive from Los Angeles came back and flooded her system. She kept a strong face though and continued driving, because to Scarlett, if she wasn't strong, she would break down and she knew it. She didn't want to be back in this city, but she had to help her grandparents pack up for their impending move to Florida. Some part of her was glad they were moving, it would give her another excuse to stay away from Arizona and all the memories that came with it.

You don't want to forget Auston, you never have and you never will

She shook the thoughts from her head, silently thanking herself that her phone had started to ring to snap her out of her thoughts. She pushed the answer button on her steering wheel, and soon the voice of her mother rang throughout her car.

"Are you here yet? I know darn well that the drive does not take you as long as it has."

"Mama, I......." and Scarlett exhaled before continuing. "I...I took the scenic route okay? I'm pretty much there anyways."

"You know Ema called me yesterday, said she was so excited to come to your party and see you," and she took a pause. "You didn't invite Auston."

"Yeah, I know I didn't."

"You should've."

"The same reason why I wasn't there yesterday to see the twins is the exact reason why I didn't invite him."

"Look, I know you hate him or you don't like him or whatever, but he was your best friend since you guys were little kids, and I know the last couple years have been rough, but still. He thinks you hate him Scarlett, he thinks he's lost you forever."

"Good, he should think that. God ma, he had kids with somebody else when he told me that I was the only one and that he was going to come back to me!"

"Don't yell at me young lady, I've put up with stuff the last 43 years almost of my life to have you yell at me," and as she heard her daughter start to cry her heart absolutely tore in two. "Baby, look, I know you're mad at him but you'll regret it if you don't go see those twins." And after nodding, and saying her goodbyes, she turned onto the highway that would take her straight to Phoenix General.

"Mitchy!!!" the raven haired beauty exclaimed as she stepped out of her car to hug her best friend tightly.

"Scarlett! Man I didn't think you'd actually show up here, thought you'd wait a little."

"I mean to be fair, I came to help my grandparents, not to see Auston, that was my mom's doing," and the boy sighed, having seen his other best friend only an hour ago.

"He misses you."

"Good, he should miss me."

"Scarlett."

"Mitchell."

"Okay one, I hate when you call me that and you know it. Two, he's fucking miserable without you. I mean sure, he has the twins who are the most precious things in the world, but still. Jordyn left by the way, she ditched right after they were born."

"Oh my god, I mean I saw that coming, but still, that's horrible." and she sighed, her heart breaking in ways she didn't want to admit.

"He's lonely Scarlett, you need to go and see him, whatever happens you both need to know that you tried," and he got up, as the two paid the bill and exchanged hugs before going their seperate ways.

When she got to the hospital, the nurses seemed to already know who she was, what with the amount of broken bones or dehydration that had put her and her partner in crime in here over the summers. When she got up to the room however, that was the worst part.

She stood there for a few minutes before softly knocking, hearing the door open, and staring into those same eyes that melted her heart all those years ago.
