this is a third person pov
The Arizona boy paced the Denver girl's room, just wanting her to be okay. He loved her, loved her more than absolutely anything else in the whole wide world, but he never felt good enough. Even when he was a kid and he met her for the first time one summer when she was eight and he was nine. He always thought she was too good for somebody like him, and just wanted her to be happy, even if it wasn't with him. He knew he screwed up the second he met the brown haired model, but he was in Switzerland, with the love of his life all the way across the world in Orlando.
He made a mistake, a huge one that he regretted the second the model fell into his bed. He knew the second it was found out, any chance he had with Scarlett would be gone. Which is why he was so surprised when he showed up at his door on Fourth of July weekend. When he saw the heartbroken look in her eyes, all he wanted to do was pick her up, hold her close, and tell her everything would be okay, that he would always be there for her. The next couple of days were some of the best he had ever had since those summers when he was a kid. He finally got his dream girl, got to see and love every single part of her.
And then it happened. The brunette model who he thought had left his life forever, came back and with huge news. He was going to be a dad, to twins no less. He didn't even have time to think of a response before he heard a crash at the door, turning to see the Denver turned California girl standing there with a broken heart and broken eyes. She grabbed her bags and ran out the door faster than ever, before he had even had a chance to say a word.
The girl was heartbroken, absolutely heartbroken. She loved him more than anyone could possibly love another human being, and after losing her virginity it only made the feelings she had grow stronger. Sure, she had a few boyfriends before him, she even had one right now, but they were never Auston. Because, you see, she felt the exact same way that he did about her, just neither of them knew it yet. But after hearing that he was going to be a dad, especially to twins, her heart broke, and she knew that the model would be in his life forever. She couldn't handle the fact that was happening, and figured she didn't want to be alive if she had to live through a world that they were together.
So, as he paced around her room, he just wanted her to be okay. Even if the two of them didn't end up together, even if she hated him forever, he had to know. He had to know she was okay because if she wasn't, he wouldn't be able to live with himself knowing he was the reason she wouldn't be around anymore. Eventually, he turned, seeing her brown eyes open, feeling his heart break when she coiled back from him, hurt still evident in her eyes.
He let her yell at him. He let her yell and scream and get all her frustrations out. When she was done, she ran her hands through her hair, tears in both of their eyes. As she was about to tell him to leave, their song came on. The same song they had heard when they were together all those months ago in Zurich. So he shakily extended his hand, silently asking for a dance, and she nodded, grabbing his hand as he pulled her close as can be and held her against his chest. The pair stayed like that, longer than they probably meant to.
It was peaceful though, because the girl knew to fully recover and be happy, she had to let him go. And this, this was the perfect way for them to say goodbye, as he lifted her chin, kissed her softly, and turned to walk out of the door.
