Chapter 14: Second Sign

  Weeks passed and Francis continued on courting me. Jack, on the other hand, gave me the silent treatment and gave Francis a cold shoulder.

  Jack's really unpredictable. One time, he's cocky and egotistic. There's also a time that he'll be a happy go lucky and all of a sudden he will become cold towards me.

  I don't know why but he only gives me that treatment when its about Francis. Call me what you like, but i think he's jealous.

  Ugh! Its been weeks since we had a normal conversation and i kinda miss him.

  Its Saturday night. 7 pm to be exact and i can't pull myself not to worry about Jack's strange behavior. I wanted to know what his problem. And maybe i can help him.

  I was lying on my bad, staring blankly at the ceiling. I glance at my bed side table. And saw my phone. I hesitated but decided to pick it up. I typed his number.

  I had a final argument with myself before pressing the green call button.

*Ring*

  I stood up on a sitting position. My heart raced a beat. And Nervous was an understatement. Will he get mad of me for asking or will he just tell me?

*Ring*

  I stood up from my bed and made my way to my balcony. My left arm leaning on the railings of the balcony while my phone on my right hand, holding it near my ear. 'This is it! No backing out now.'

*Ring*

  "Hello?" He answered lazily but sexily. I gulped quietly.

  "J-Jack..." i said hesitatingly.

  "Rein..?" he asked.

  "Yes, its me."

  "So... you called because?" He said awkwardly. I took a deep breath then gathered all my strenght.

  "I want to ask if your alright."

  "Huh? Pardon me?"

  "You heard me. Are you alright?"

  "Why did you ask?"

  "Uhhh.. no particular reason..."

  "Really?"

  "Yeah."

  "Positive?"

  "Positive!"

  "Swear to God? Hope to die?" Ugh, he is so childish!!!

  "Wait! Why do you need to involve God in this?" I said while raising an eyebrow. And also a way to dodge his question.

  "If you won't answer my question, i'll hang up." He threatened.

  "Uh..."

  "Ok.. Bye."

  "WAIT! D-Don't hang up."

  "Then tell me why are you asking."

  "Its because......" i was hesitant.

  "Because..?" He asked me. I took a deep breath.

"ILiedWhenISaidIDon'tHaveAParticularReason. ICalledBecauseIWantedToKnowTheRealReasonOfYourStrangeBehaviorThisPastFewWeeks" I said in one breath. I was expecting him to be annoyed but no. He just chuckled! The nerve of this guy! Just laughing at me!

  "So, in order words, your worried about me." He said and i heard him smirk.

  "Yes-Wait... WHAT! NO. I MEAN YES! UHH..." i said while groaning in frustration.

  He just gave off a heart warming laugh that made me blush. Thank God were only talking by the phone. He wouldn't see my red face.

  "Happy to know that your worried about me." He said while chuckling.

  "Ugh, will you stop teasing me already? And just answer my question!" I said while groaning in annoyance.

  "I'm fine, Rein. Especially now that i know that you care for me." He said abd i swear, i heard him smirk.

  "Jack!" I hissed.

  "And i love you too." he said sarcastically.

  I sighed but later on smiled. I'm just happy that he was back to normal.

  I gazed on the night sky and almost choke on my own saliva. Wondering why?

  Its because i saw a shooting star. It was just a few seconds but enough for me to confirm my accusation. It is a shooting star falling from the night sky. In other words, my second sign.

  "Hello? Rein?" I heard Jack said from the other end causing me snap out of my thoughts.

  "Uhhh.. but i need to go. I'll just call you again tomorrow." I said.

  "Okay. Goodnight."

  "Night!" I said then pressed the end call.

  I suddenly felt a gush of wind passed through me. And like what happened before, a petal of white rose fell and landed on top of my phone.

  My second sign came true.

  And another petal of white rose appeared.

  I gulped. This is crazy! My second Sign just came true and now.. one last sign to go.
