The final night. The last scene. The last time we get to do this show.

Each night had been pretty uneventful; Come in, get into costumes, act, sing, "kiss" and go home.

But this is our last night of doing this. When I walked into the girls dressing room it was mostly normal. Everyone is dressed and some are getting make-up done.

"Lilac, are you coming to the after party tonight?" One of the girls asked.

"I'm sorry, but I head for a flight straight after this." I brushed my hair and readjusted my bow before heading to go get Jordan.

I walked to the boy's changing room and knocked on the door. Dylan opened the door and just nodded, knowing who I was looking for.

Me and Jordan ran out of the building and around to the back of the school. There's cameras but nobody will be watching them. I only wanted to talk to him before I left.

It was dark apart from the football pitch lights a few hundred metres away. I could just about see his face in the darkness. I should have been frightened. But we were together. And we are a team.

"Hey Lil, how much does tonight mean to you?" He asked. We were both leaned against the wall, looking up at the moon and stars.

"It means the world"

"Are you worried about something going wrong?"

I thought for a few minutes about what he said. Mistakes have been made other nights. Some props have broken and lines have been forgotten. But finally an idea came to my mind, and I knew what to reply.

"Today needs to be perfect, it all comes down to me. I don't know if I'm ready for all the things they need me to be. I am the Princess of Cube, but that is more than just a crown. It's a promise to bring people together, and never let anybody down."

"You seriously have to quote a song to me." He said smiling.

"I'm an actor and singer, I speak in lines and lyrics!" I retorted, smirking.

"Is this gonna become our thing?" He asked.

"I hope." I finally looked over a him. And he looked back at me. And almost by instinct we leaned in. The trees rustling almost sounded like applause as we kissed.

I pulled away and grabbed his hands, running for the front entrance. It would close soon and they can't start without us. We've worked too hard to miss this.

Each scene went on. One by one. Until my song.

(Song at top)

"We're far apart in every way
But you're the best part of my day
And sure as I breathe the air
I know we are the perfect pair
On a prickly path that goes on for miles
But it's worth it just to see you smile
And I cannot be pulled apart
From the hold you have on my heart
And even if the world tells us it's wrong
You're in my head like a catchy song"

(Ignore dialogue)

"The seasons change and leaves may fall
But I'll be with you through them all
And rain or shine, you'll always be mine
On a prickly path that goes on for miles
You're the only one who makes it all worthwhile
And you should not blame me, too
If I can't help fallin' in love with you..."

The lights dimmed and we were under the spotlight together.

The audience was silent. Mouths agape. As we leaned in. And we kissed. No more acting. This was real...
