Lilac's P.O.V

Curled up on the sofa in the dimly lit living room, I was clutching my chest, Jordan holding on to my shoulders for my dear life as excruciating pain radiated through my lungs. I breathed deeply, my lungs heaving. My throat was clogged as I coughed trying to keep myself breathing. But with every cough the pain became even more sore.

"Jordan ahhhh it hurts!" I yelled out as tears welled up.

"Lil, I know it hurts, but you need to need to rest. Struggling against it isn't going to help." He was trying to calm me but I couldn't take it.

My head burned, and my vision was occasionally blacking out and blurry. Around 1 am, Jordan carried me to bed. I was so limp, and weak and tired that I just about managed to put on my pyjama top before giving in to the heaviness of the bags underneath my eyes.

I opened my eyes many hours later only to see that the room was just as dark as when my eyes were closed. I reached over and turned on the lamp. I heard it click to turn on but still I saw no light. The bulb must've gone I thought.

I wasn't strong enough to get up to get the over head light. I whispered Jordan's name incase he was on the other side of the bed near me. He didn't answer and I didn't hear him coming. Getting a little desperate I start to shout. I heard footsteps running to the room as he burst in. I felt him sit down beside me and I looked in that direction, still seeing nothing but black.

"Lilac, are you ok?" He asked worriedly.

"Jordan, can you see me?" I asked worriedly.

"Yes, why, what's wrong?" He replied taking my hand softly.

"I can't see a thing in here, what time is it?"

"Lilac it's past eleven. The sun's shining through the window how can you...." He trailed off.

I heard him get up and wander downstairs, swearing under his breathe.

"Jordan, where are you going? I'm blinded and you just leave?!"

He returned a minute later, the smell of a fresh tea entering with him.

"Sorry, I just went to get medicine." He said quietly. He seemed hurt by my yelling, but still understood my reasoning. My useless eyes still darted around as I tried so hard to find a scrap of vision still left. I was only met with darkness.

A gentle palm lifted my chin as he fed me the medicine.

"Yuck! They couldn't add some flavouring of something to make this at least somewhat appetising?"

"I'm not the one who makes the medicine Princess, but I am the one who needs to give you more. Open up." I reluctantly opened my mouth as he fed me.

It took a great amount of strength to swallow it but I managed to down 4 spoonfuls and was rewarded with a warm tea to wash it down.

"They said there's a possibility that the poison would spread to your retinas, causing temporary blindness. It won't last long but I think you should stay in bed for the now."

I fell back to sleep after he said that only to wake a while later. He was still sat in the same position but now he was stroking his hands through my hair. He was humming quietly and seemed peaceful for the first time in the last day or so I just lay pretending I was still asleep and enjoyed the peace. It wasn't going to last. And it never would.
