The room is filled with smoke, clothes strewn along the floor, a light prayer is going along in the background. The bed has its occupant, roaming along his dream world, with his dream girl, in a beach. "Rajesh, get up or you will get late to work", comes the piercing voice of Mrs. Khuranna, bringing the happy dreamer to the earth. "Oh mom, why do you keep waking me up this early ?", mumbles Rajesh in his sleep."Its already six-thirty. Get up", pat comes the reply from Mrs. Khuranna. Unwillingly, Rajesh gets up from the bed and walks to the restroom to get freshened up. Finishing the morning chores, he goes to the dining table to have the steaming cup of tea. "Get up early in the morning and go for some jogging", comes the voice of Mr. Khuranna."Papa, aap apka fitness ke lessons itna subah mat shuru karo"(Father , you please don't start your fitness lessons so early in the morning) replies Rajesh. He then heads for a bath.
'I have an important meeting today with some clients. Better put on the Louis Phillipe formals' brainstorms Rajesh. He grabs the only set of costly formals he owns from his dresser and heads for the ironing table. With a bollywood tune in his mouth, he crips his formals. He looks in the mirror and thinks 'With a good tie I maybe able to seal the deal with a better quotation'. He then searches through his collection of tie's and selects the navy-blue one. For a guy who prefers to wear simple formals, Rajesh sure does has an array of costly and branded ties. With a spray of cologne, Rajesh takes one more look in the mirror and assures himself of the sharpness of his dressing. Files for today's meeting are being reviewed in his laptop, important points are being memorised as Rajesh prepares himself for the meeting with utmost professionalism."Beta, nashta lag gaya hai. aaja"(Son breakfast is ready. come), comes the voice of Mrs. Khuranna from the living room. A small but a professional chat about his work goes between the father and son, to which Rajesh replies deftly. Rajesh then proceeds back to his room for checking all the documents. He comes and sits in the living room, with the laptop reviews his presentation. "Are you not leaving for work ?" asks his father. "Tarun is coming in his father's car and picking me up today. If i travel in the train then that's it" is the reply from rajesh. "Makes sense. All the best for the meeting" says his father and then leaves for the bank.
'Yeh dosti... Ham nahi todenge' rings in his phone. Without looking, the call is attended with a question "Where are you ?" "I am at the gate. Come down fast" comes the voice from the other side. "Okay" and the call is cut. "Maa I am leaving for work. I maybe late for dinner. I will inform you in the evening" shouts Rajesh, as he goes for the door. "Okay beta" comes the voice from the kitchen, as another morning has passed without any hitch in the Khuranna household.
Rajesh races to the blue i20 standing at the gate as the driver inside gives another annoying honk. "Aa raha hun"(coming) shouts rajesh, as he opens the door and plots on the passenger seat and gives and gives Tarun a stare. "Can't help it" says tarun before breaking onto a laughter. "Haan k, now let's go" says Rajesh. "I can say you are on your toes to impress the assistant of the client huh" teases Tarun. "Screw you man" replies rajesh as he looks outside the window....content with all the things that are falling into place...
Little he was to know that the next year is going to be a tough year.
