October 29th: 2 DAYS BEFORE HALLOWEEN
That morning you sat at the kitchen table and sipped at some coffee, trying to clear your stressed-out head. It wasn't the first time you'd dreamt of a disturbing photo and the flashing lights, but what was that new voice? The one speaking about 'Boo'? You'd heard it before, you knew you had. It was the same one you heard whilst speaking to Gabby. Was she right? Was it the 'bad friend', and that's why your mother panicked?
Halloween was two days away, so you should probably unpack the rest of your stuff in preparation for that. But how were you meant to make breakfast? Which box was all the stuff in? Gaaaaah, moving house was harder than you thought. With a sigh you kept opening boxes; finding plates, dishwashing soap, glasses...where was the food?!
You groaned and went to bang your head on the table, but a knock at the door intervened. Who could that be? A few minutes later you found out; a familiar, white-haired girl standing on your porch with a sheepish grin. She looked a little tired - had she pulled another all-nighter? What interested you the most was the smell of food drifting from the plastic bag she was carrying, the delicious aroma making your stomach grumble.
"Morning Gabs, you're here early." You noted casually, the time being twenty past seven. You usually woke up around 10, but that nightmare snapped you awake quicker than any alarm ever could.
"I'm sorry - I just got so excited. I thought hanging out with you was a dream yesterday! I brought you breakfast~" She grinned and held up the food bag, a smile spreading across your face.
"Come on in, I'll make you some coffee - it's the only thing I've managed to find in the damn kitchen." You rolled your eyes as you shut the door behind her.
"Hey, I'm sure it'll be easier once you've unpacked. Wait...you're not usually up this early. Are you okay?" Her soft tone turned to a concerned one, causing you to sigh.
"I uh, didn't sleep too well. Nightmare. I probably stressed myself out with moving, it's all good." You waved away her worry and started to make the coffee, wondering what she'd say.
"I've seen you stressed, (Y/n). You usually pull an all-nighter and work through the stress. But today...well...you look incredibly pale today. Are you sure there's nothing bothering you?" Gabby pried gently, taking the hot cup of coffee and thanking you afterwards.
"It's just...the thing is...I-" You were going to tell her about the dead rat and the familiar voice, but a panicked knock came from the door. Who could be at your house now? It wasn't even eight yet!
"Be right back." You hurried to the door and pulled it open, seeing your sobbing mother with an unfamiliar man.
"M-Mom? What's wrong?" You frowned as she flung her arms around you - clearly distraught.
"T-Thank god you're safe! I-I was so worried!" She wailed.
"I uh...I only moved, Mom. It really isn't a huge deal." You felt awkward whilst you patted her back; confused.
"That's not what she's worried about. Pleasure to see you again, (Y/n)." The guy held his hand out and you shook it, looking very bewildered.
"Again? I'm sorry, I'm not sure who you are. You look familiar though...am I supposed to know you?" You mused over his words, letting them both in before you closed the door.
