You sat down at the table, Michael hovering behind you with his knife by his side, being protective. Gabby and Lucian sat opposite you; Gabby being nervous and Lucian being smug. You couldn't decide which sibling you despised more at this point. A short silence thickened the tension, the clock being the only sound for a few seconds. Then Gabby cleared her throat - her hands placed on her lap and her head hanging low.

"So...What do you want to know first?" She wondered softly, her voice barely audible.

"How about - oh I don't know - why you tried to kill me?" You spoke in a sour tone and drummed your fingers on the table.

"Oh...that. I...I don't really know how to start." Gabby laughed nervously, but you could tell she was extremely stressed out.

"You're aware of our cult. The cult of Elyto. That's why she tried to kill you - we were following orders." Lucian answered smoothly - deciding to help her.

"So you'd kill your best friend for some freaky cult. Real pleasant." You sharply commented.

"No! I mean, I wouldn't...I couldn't do that to you...That's not why I tried. That wasn't...me." She mumbled, brushing her white strands back as she tried to stay calm.

"That wasn't you?" You repeated her sentence sarcastically - raising your eyebrows.

"Well I...okay, it was me, but it's not what you think! When you're in this cult, you'll understand. It's hard to explain." Gabby panicked out of nowhere; tears pricking the edge of her eyes.

"Lucian? Can you explain it?" You turned to him and tried to get an actual explanation, to which he rolled his eyes.

"The cult of Elyto prides itself on purity and power. To get this power you divide your soul, you...you make room for another to take the empty space. So you technically have two sides of yourself - a normal side and a...not-so-normal side." He replied impatiently.

"Do you...Do you turn into a monster too?" You asked Gabby, slightly hesitant.

"Yeah." She mumbled and stood up - ready to show you.

The same scarlet shade glowed around her before she changed appearance; twisted black horns appearing whilst a pair of bat wings opened up. Fangs also grew from her teeth, her eyes switching to a crimson colour as she avoided your glance. You gripped Michael's hand anxiously, still not used to how they looked. The silent male placed his other hand on your shoulder and squeezed it, de-stressing you in the progress.

"There's three stages of corruption. One, the lack of emotion. Two, the sociopathic outlook. And three, the cruel appearance. This is what makes a powerful cult member. This is what makes us strong." Lucian explained proudly.

"How did you join this cult? Why...Why would you even join it?" You quietly questioned Gabby, a bit upset now.

"We didn't have a choice." She sighed, her red orbs staring at you in regret.

"What do you mean, didn't have a choice? What happened?" You probed further and Lucian didn't like that, his tail swishing as he sent you a glare.

"Enough. We've explained the cult and why Gabby acted the way she did. There's no need for any more information. You'll upset her." He snapped icily; on edge.

"Gabby?" You ignored her brother and focused on her, deliberately softening your voice. You hadn't forgiven her, but maybe it would trick her into telling the truth.
