Chapter 4
I walked to gym, still thinking over what Jayden had said to me. Does he regret everything? Has he changed? Shall I trust him now?
All these thoughts were swirling in my head as I went into the changing rooms. Just as I was about to walk in I ran into something hard. I swear there wasn’t a wall there before!
I could feel myself falling but I felt an arm snake around my waist keeping me from falling any further.
“Whoa there sorry about that. Are you alright?” I looked up to find that it was Corey that stopped me from falling on my ass.
I wriggled from him grip and stood on my own two feet “Yeah thanks, wasn’t looking where I was going” I tried to put a smile on my face
“You looked like you were in a different world” he chuckled
“Just got a lot on my mind”
He nodded “I didn’t know that you were in my gym class”
“Not many people realised to be honest” I sighed. Corey rubbed the back of his neck looking sheepish. “Look I’m going to go find Becky, I’ll see you later”
I left before he could say any more. I found Becky sitting on out usual bench, waiting for me.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” she said quickly, noticing me face
“I dunno, Jayden just confused me a little” I said frowning
“What he do?”
“He just pulled me into an empty classroom and apologised for everything he has done to me and left” I waved my hands to show him just leaving
Becky didn’t look surprised when I said this but looked pretty pleased with herself. “Why don’t you look surprised?” I asked
She winced “I may have shouted at him this morning for being such a dick to you”
“Huh so that’s why you were all hush hush this morning. Well it seemed to have worked”
She nodded “He looked quite upset when I listed all the things he did to you”
“Maybe he just needed someone to tell him a few home truths”
We just sat there in silence.
“Harrison! McKinley! Get your butts out here and run some laps!” Mr Booth, our gym teacher shouted. We laughed and ran onto the field for another fabulous gym lesson.
The rest of the day was weird. Everyone was looking at me funny and the fact that I was the boring old Lacey McKinley spread fast as well. I wasn’t used to guys coming up to me and talking to me. I liked it though as it made me feel wanted.
