Chapter 7

I woke up feeling really groggy with a pounding headache. Feeling around me I noticed that I was lying in my bed. I frowned as I couldn’t remember how I got there; the last thing I remembered was going into the park with a bottle of vodka.

“Ughhhh” I groaned out. This must be what it’s like to have a hangover I thought.

I glanced at the clock to see that it was noon. I shot up in bed thinking that I had to go to school but a wave of dizziness hit me causing me to collapse back onto my bed. Its Saturday you idiot!

Getting up slowly this time I made my way to the bathroom, holding my head in the process. I looked in the mirror and nearly scared myself at my appearance. My hair was everywhere and my make up was running down my face. I looked a cross between Sideshow Bob and a panda, just perfect.

Splashing my face with water, I tamed my hair and brushed my teeth. Looking more presentable I made my way down to the kitchen to find Jayden sitting on the breakfast bar. Becky was nowhere in sight.

Once I saw him all that happened yesterday came back to me. The park. The almost kiss. Him walking away. I stood there for a bit but soon gathered myself together and walked in with my head held high.

I completely ignored him whilst I got a bowl of cereal and an aspirin for my hangover. I could feel his eyes following me around the room but I wasn’t going to acknowledge him. I deserve better.

“Lacey” he called me

I carried ignoring him and poured some orange juice into a glass.

“Lacey, please”

I put the aspirin into my mouth and followed it with a sip of the juice. Picking up my bowl, I turned and placed it on the counter and picked up my spoon.

“Please talk to me” Jayden begged

I slammed my spoon down “Why should I?” I demanded

“I know you’re mad at me but-“ he started

“Mad! I’m fuming! How dare you mess with my feelings and leave me standing there!” I spat out

“I didn’t know you feel that way about me” he mumbled

I frowned wondering how he found out. I’ll find out later but right now I was happy arguing with Jayden.

“Feel? More like felt” I shot back

“What?” a frown appeared on his face

“How could I love someone as shallow as you? I was stupid to like you and I deserve a lot better”

I pushed away my cereal, suddenly not feeling hungry anymore and left Jayden sitting there with a shocked expression on his face. I bet he doesn’t get shot down often.

I was about to walk up the stairs when a knock came at the door. Sighing I made my way over and swung the door open.

Stood on doorstep was Corey looking extremely handsome in dark jeans, a white t-shirt and a black leather jacket.

“Hi” was all I could get out. I was feeling really embarrassed around him for some reason. Oh god. What did I do yesterday?

“Hey, I just came to see if you were okay” he smiled with all his white shining teeth. Swoon.

All my anger disappeared from my argument with Jayden earlier and now I was feeling all girly when I looked at Corey.

“Yeah, come in” I pulled back the door and ushered him into the living room.

He sat down on the sofa and I sat down opposite him. He looked really nervous. I wonder why.

“How are you feeling?” he asked me

“I’m okay, a bit of a hangover” I winced. “How did you know I was bad?” I cocked my head to the side

“I found you in the park, drunk and you passed out so I brought you back here” he explained

“Oh, thanks for doing that” I smiled

“No problem, anything for a damsel in distress” he winked at me, causing my stomach to do somersaults. 

“Did anything happen yesterday” my voice shaked not really wanting to know the answer

He blushed “ermm you sort of ermm tried to k-kiss me”

“Ughhh” I groaned “Sorry about that” I winced

“Don’t worry about it. I was kind of flattered” he put his charming smile back onto his face

I just gave him an apologetic smile.

“I came here for another reason as well” he started to play with his hands

“Yeah?”

“Do you want to go on a date with me?” he asked

That’s why he was so nervous I thought as a grin spread across my face “I would love to”

A look of relief went across his face and his smile got even wider.

“Great” he said as he stood up “I’ve got to go but I’ll pick you up tomorrow at 7?”

I nod “Yeah that sounds good”

I stood up too and led him out to the door. He turned and kissed me on the cheek which caused me to blush.

“I’ll see you tomorrow then” he gave me one last smile and walked out of the door.

I turned around and lent on the door. Jayden was stood there with a scowl on his face.

“Got over your feelings for me fast didn’t you” he spat out

My eyes widened with the amount of spite in his voice “That’s because Corey knows how to treat a girl better” I walked past him and stormed up the stairs.

I sat on my bed with a scowl on my face. However, it soon faded when I thought of my date with Corey. Picking up my phone, I called Becky.

Ring Ring

“Hey hun, how’s the hangover” she teased

“Oh shut up” I whined

She laughed “What’s up?”

“I have a date!” I exclaimed

“Omg with Jayden!?”

“Ermm no” I mumbled

“Huh?”

“I’ve got a date with Corey” I smiled again

“Awww that’s cute but I thought you loved Jayden?” I could hear the disappointment in her voice

I ignored her question “about that, how did Jayden know my feelings towards him?”

She gave a nervous laugh “I may have accidently told him?”

“Oh great Becky, just great” I sighed

“I’m sorry it just came out”

“It’s fine, kind of awkward but I’ll get over it”

She sighed with relief “Thank god for that”

“Where are you by the way?”

“I’m at the grocery store. I’ll be home in a bit” she replied

“Okay see you later”

“Bye!” and with that I hung up.

I can’t believe I have a date with Corey!
