(third person pov)
Billie Joe lived in a shitty little town called Rodeo. He had no friends, and honestly thought very little of the world. He believed that there was no point to being alive, but he kept up his stupid, redundant routine of showing up at his favorite hellhole, Pinole Valley High School. His hobbies included:• keeping his head down
• ignoring the shitheads around him
• pretending he couldn't hear the slurs of being an orphanHe wasn't an orphan. His mom was still alive. His father had died seven years ago, and since the town was very small, word spread and sadly he became known as the boy without a father.
Billie Joe had one friend, if he was even that.
Mike Pritchard.
Mike was very popular. He was on the Pinole football team, and had no cares in the world. From an outsiders point of view, Mike was the cool jock that got all the girls (and some guys) he wanted. He must come from a wealthy home with parents that love him, right?
Wrong.
Mike lived with Billie Joe. In school, Mike pushed and shoved Billie around, participating in the cruel jokes thrown Billie's way. At home, he was basically Billie Joe's adopted brother. Ollie Armstrong had taken him in when Billie was 5 years old. They grew up together, and were practically inseparable. Once they hit High School, something came over Mike and he decided Billie was too much of a loser for him. Billie just assumed he was right and became a loser.
Welcome to paradise.
Mike was not affected by Andrew Armstrong's death, but Billie was shattered. His happy-go-lucky persona was quickly transformed into an eerie cloud of remorse. Starting school every September was not Billies favorite, and never helped him get a good start to school.
There was only one thing that made Billie Joe feel like a god: his guitar. When Billie was 8, his dad gave him a beautiful blue Fernandes Stratocaster which he very creatively named, "Blue." When he touched those rusty strings, he felt a wave of love flow through him. He never feels anything like it otherwise. He usually dreams about getting somewhere someday, with a sick band, seeing the world and spreading peace and love, and leaving this fucking place behind. Deep down he knows that will never happen though, so he keeps his songs to himself. Mike didn't play an instrument.
Billie currently is in his crappy remedial math class, tapping his pen, waiting for the bell to ring. He let out a big long sigh and plugged his headphones in. He didn't care about the pythagorean theorem.
