It's been a week since Jay had confessed to me and everything was normal as ever.

We hung out together at home and at school as usual.

There was no big commotion like what happened when I was dating Richie.

Infact, no one at school even knew that Jay and I were dating.

We were hanging out as usual and the only difference now is that we knew that we love each other.

Somehow, my mom figured it out.

'Are you in love with someone, Kimmie?' she tried to keep it like a common talk.

One of the things you have when growing up with a single mother is that you get to tell them everything. Telling her that I loved Jay was awkward but lying to her was not in my option. So, I told her.

That I loved Jay and that he loves me back too.

My mom was silent for some time. I knew the meaning of that silence very well. It meant that something was wrong.

'What's wrong Mom? I thought you liked Jay.'

There was a bit of disappointment in my heart.

'Jay is a good kid, honey. It's just that..' she trailed off again.

'What, Mom?'

'I was your age when I got pregnant with you.' She sighed. 'I was a foolish kid. Your dad meant the world to me then. But in the end, he left us. I don't want that to happen to you.'

'But mom, I am not foolish. Just because you were like that doesn't mean I would turn up like that too. Jay is not like the other boys. He would never mess up my life.'

'Kimmie' my mom raised her voice a tone higher. 'I don't want to see you and Jay together again. From tomorrow on, you are living with Harry and I.'

'But..But..'

'End of conversation, Kimmie'
