The sun shone on my face through the curtains. The smell of Carrie cooking breakfast down the hall filled her nose. Opening my eyes I stretched out to relive my stuff body and smiled. Jimmy had only left last night but it felt like forever. Turning my head I looked in Hunters cot. He was fast asleep. Swinging my legs off the bed, I stood up and went over to him. I patted down his soft hair a kissed his warm cheek.
There was a soft knock on the door. I went over and opened it.
"Hi Carrie." I smiled sweetly.
Carrie stood fidgeting nervously. She was still in her pyjamas and her hair was tied back in a loose pony tail.
"Julie. The police are here...they want to talk to us about Jimmy..." Carrie murmured softly.
My heart sunk. What if they had found Jimmy? What if they knew he had been here? Numerous thoughts ran through my head as me and Carrie made their way into the living room. Detective Cameron and Detective Hopkins both sat on the small couch that Carries parents had given her.
"Juliet, Carrie. Please take seat." Detective Cameron motioned his hand towards the armchairs.
"Carrie said your here about Jimmy? We've told you everything we know." I said sitting down.
"Yes we know but there's something else that's come up. I thought you were in a wheelchair?" Detective Hopkins asked raising her eyebrow.
"Julie doesn't like using it. We think it might help her recovery if she walked on her leg more often." Carrie replied. Her voice tried to sound sweet and soft but it came out more as a murmur.
"So why are you here?" I questioned nervously.
"We are here to inform you girls that early this morning Jimmy Wilcox was found in a car park not far from here. He had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and back area. Who stabbed him is still unknown. Once he was found the paramedics did everything they could to help him but unfortunately he died shortly after he was found." Detective Cameron said sternly with no emotion.
Carrie gasped in horror and grabbed my hand. My head felt light. I tried to stand but Carrie pushed me down again. Detective Hopkins appeared with a glass of water and pushed it into my shaking hand. I grasped the glass and Carries hand in fear that she would faint. Tears blurred my vision when I tried to look around.
"He...He's dead...he's dead!" I cried. Putting the glass on the table I wrapped my arms around Carrie hoping for comfort. Her body was stiff but she tried to comfort me anyway. Her shoulder was soon wet with tears but she didn't seem to mind. She didn't seem to care that he was dead. Only shocked. I tried to avoid her back in fear of hurting her wounds but I didn't care anymore. I heard Carrie muttered something to the detectives and then the door closing. I felt Carrie lie me on the couch and run down the hall. Through my sobs I could hear Hunter crying. Carrie must have gone to comfort him. As much as I liked Carrie
she was the reason the family had fallen apart. And Tommy. If Carrie hadn't told the police those lies, then Jimmy wouldn't be dead. And if Tommy learned to love Carrie and not me then they would have been perfect together.I slowed my crying and looked up to see Carrie come back in. I shuddered at her touch.
"I've managed to get Hunter back down. Do you want your water? The police said that Jimmy's body will be in the hospital until tonight if you wanted me to take you there?" Carrie said softly.
I sat up and looked at her.
"You don't even care do you? You don't care that he's dead!" I shouted at her.
"Julie...you can't blame me, his family kidnapped us and-"
"No your wrong! They were protecting us! Us and our family! Why can't you see that Carrie? My husbands dead and you don't care about it...Tommy anyone can understand, but Jimmy...He was sweet and kind...and..." I screamed at her and burst into tears again.
Carrie put her hand on my shoulder but I brushed her off quickly.
"Don't touch me!" I growled.
"Julie. I understand why your upset you're sick. I can still take you to the hospital if you want? Or I could get you a cab?" Carrie offered.
"I'll get one myself!" I shouted.
I ran into my room and slammed the door. I accidentally woke up Hunter so I picked him up and rocked him while I order the cab for the hospital. It would be outside in about ten minutes so i put Hunter back in hi cot and changes into some loose I decided before I left to go and apologies to Carrie and ask her to look after Hunter while I went to the hospital. I might as well since she's done so much already for me and I've just throw it in her face. Also I don't think it would be good to take him to see his fathers body. Even though he was a baby, I wouldn't want my only child to see what might lay ahead.
I just put the phone on the beside table and given Hunter his toy giraffe when I heard a scream."Carrie?" I shouted rushing out of the room. I ran down the hall and into the kitchen. I screamed myself and clung to Hunter. There staring at me from the floor was Carrie. Her throat had been slit and she lay in a pool of blood. Her eyes were open wide and mouth hung open loosely. I started crying and held Hunter close to me. I went to pick up the phone of the side to call the police when I realized something.
Who ever killed Carrie....Could still be here....
"Jules!" A voice said behind me. The sound of it made me gag. I spun round and almost screamed again.
"Tommy..."
