Chapter 18 Growing Up

Months have gone by, to say the least. Somehow Natsu and I have been able to pull through in terms of money. But watching Nashi grow up is both amazing and well...heart breaking... On the bright side, something amazing has happened! Finally, Jellal picked up the message... (Well I think the guild spelled it out for him. But whatever...) Point is, Erza's pregnant!!! YAY!!!! I was so, so, so excited for her! I still can't believe it took that long for them to start their family. Anyways, currently I'm watching Nashi chase Happy around. She's gotten so big! "Come 'ere! Come 'ere!!!" She giggles as Happy swoops down, and flies up before she can grab his tail. He's teasing her.

Nashi collapses dramatically; "Mommy! Happy cheatin'!!" she cries. I reach out my arms and pull her to my chest. "You can't always win Nashi! Besides, Happy's not cheating." Nashi completely ignores me, and instead pulls my keys of my belt. "Shiny!" She exclaims, holding them carefully, She holds out one silver key. "Plue!" She says. She likes to name all the keys, or the one with the symbols she knows. "Aries! Irgo! Cancer! Loke!" (Irgo=Virgo. She can't say it.) "Pretty!" I laugh at her attention span for a second. She gives the keys back to me before going back to chase Happy again. Natsu came in a second later, his hair was still damp from his shower. "Whats up!?" he laughs at Nashi chasing Happy. Then he picks her up and puts her on his shoulders. "Natsuuuu!! That's cheating!" Happy complains as the two of them chase him.

I was laughing until they almost knocked over pretty much everything. "Okay okay! Let's take this outside!" I opened the door, leading them out, not wanting to ruin their fun. Natsu runs out, Nashi giggles as holds onto his head. Happy flies beside me as we walk behind them. "Lucy! I just realized how big Nashi is now!" he exclaims. I nod, "Me too." I smile at my husband and little girl, who both seem to have grown up before my eyes. I guess in ways, I've grown up a lot too. Soon we find ourselves at the park. "Phew! Nashi, you're so heavy!" Natsu complains and sets her on the ground, only to fall down dramatically. "Am not!" She exclaims and hops on top of him. "Play! Play!" I lay down next to them and look at the clouds. "What do you want to play Nashi?" I ask. She's quite for a moment then says "Tag, your it!" Nashi exclaimed as she poked my shoulder and ran.

Natsu laughed, then preceded to run after her. "Wait a second!" I yelled after them. I got up and chased them. "Get back here!" Funny enough I reached Natsu first. I jumped on his back with my arms around his neck, he tripped and fell face first into the dirt. I was still on top of him but we both laughed so hard my side started to hurt. I rolled off of him, but before Natsu could even stand up Nashi was on top of him.

"Oh come on!"He wined but didn't seem so upset. Nashi giggled like a mad women. "Whats so funny huh?" Natsu began tickling the sides of her. "Stooop!" Nashi laughed as she tried to pull away. I decided to get on the fun and tickled her from behind. "Mommy! Stooop!" She was smiling so much and laughing too hard I could hardly understand her. Eventually we both stopped tickling her and she ran away from us. Nashi then decided to chase the ducks into the lake, but then the ducks started to chase her and bite quaked at her. "Happppy!!! HEEELP MEEEE!" Nashi cried, I watched as Happy tried to stop the ducks, only to get quaked in the face. They were both helpless. "DADDY!" Nashi cried out for some support again, meanwhile I was laughing at the idiots that were my family. Natsu was laughing too but then got suddenly very serious. He stared down the ducks, and just like that the ducks ran away.

It was actually kinda threatening. So, this is how we spent the day. I honestly can't remember ever being able to do something like this with my own family. The few memories I do have are like distant dreams. But I want to give Nashi everything I never had. Sure growing up my family had a lot of money, but my family never really felt like a family. I Know that doesn't make much sense... But Natsu and I made a promise the day I found out I was pregnant. That it was okay for us to mess up, as long as we gave our children what we both found in Fairy Tail. A home, a family, and an adventure that would never truly end. I was smiling as I thought about this, but a voice broke through my thoughts. "LU~CHAN!" Levy's scared me when she suddenly wrapped her arm around my shoulders. "Levy!" I laughed, apparently it was the perfect day to come outside and play. Levy had brought Gajeel and Gale, their son who had just gotten the hang of walking in a straight line. But Nashi still played with him and whenever he would fall down, and was about to cry, she flopped down next to him and laughed. Then Gale would laugh and they'd get back up together. 

But as I said, it was a beautiful day outside, so people began to poor into the park, even our guild members. It didn't matter if they had kids or not, literally the whole guild was at the park. Probably the weirdest coincidence I've ever had. (And more than a little creepy...) But funny nonetheless. Honestly I think the entire guild is just a bunch of overgrown children. Natsu challenged Elfman to an arm wrestling contest, he lost pretty quickly. I mean, no one can beat Elfman in terms of brute strength. I mean have you seen the size of his muscles!? It's not human! But Evergreen sure did luck out with that... and then Nashi decided to try. "My turn!" She yelled and climbed up onto the chair and put her arm on the table. Everyone laughed, but she was completely serious. "I won't go easy on you just because you're a little girl!" Elfman slammed his elbow onto the table, which shook the whole table. Nashi was only able to hold his thumb with her tiny hand, and only barely at that. 

Warren, who apparently was the referee or whatever, counted down. "Three... Two.... One... Go!" Nashi pushed as hard as she could. Elfman didn't even do anything. His arm was planted firmly on the table and there was nothing Nashi could do about it. "Com'on Nashi! Bring 'em down!!" Natsu cheered. I clapped and yelled, "Go Nashi!!" Nashi ended up using both hands to try and push him down. Elfman was busy laughing. "Not funny!" Nashi yelled, she was getting a little upset that she couldn't win. She stood on the chair and put all her muscle into it. Nashi's face was getting red, tiny sparks shoot from her elbow. I blinked, did I really just see that? I couldn't be sure. I looked at Natsu, he had the same expression on his face.

The sparks grew bigger. "Nashi? What are you doing?" I asked, but her face just turned redder and she grunted at the effort. The sparks turned into a flame, about the size of two matches on ethier elbow. "Hey Salamander.... Is that..?" That was Gajeel. Everyone had noticed the flames now. Elfman looked shocked and couldn't seem to find the words. "Uh-huh.... Thats a flaming elbow..." Natsu nodded. The flames powered Nashi's elbows and helped her push against Elfman. His arm began falling down. He was still to shocked to do anything. In a second his arm was against the table. The flames went out and Nashi pumped her fists in the air, "I win!!!" She yelled. It only took a second for Natsu and I to really realize what had just happened.

"Thats my girl!!" Natsu yelled and lufted Nashi up on his shoulders. What followed was anlot of yelling, cheering, abd laughing. Sure Nashi could spit fire. But actually doing a fire dragon spell is a huge step up. Especially seeing as we've never actually taught her. I've no idea how she did it. Then again, the fact that she's Natsu's kid, is enough of an explanation. What followed was a lot of cheering and laughing, and teasing Elfman. "Nashi's a REAl MAN!!" He exclaimed. "She's not a man!!" We shouted back in unison. My chest swelled with pride. I'll never forget the day my baby girl had cast her first spell.

"I can't tell which ones more tired." I complained as I held Happy in my arms; he snored like a pig. Natsu chuckled, he carried Nashi in his arms. I wondered how soon it would be until he could no longer carry her. My heart ached at the thought. But we walked up the steps and into our house. It was instantly warmer. I sighed, and put Happy in his bed. When I stepped quietly upstairs, I found Natsu just tucking Nashi into bed.

He had already changed her into her PJ's while she slept contently. I don't know how Natsu knew how to put her to bed. Perhaps it was some dad instinct coming in. I tiptoed to them and kissed Nashi on the for head. "Good night Nashi." I whispered, then very carefully, Natsu and I flicked off the lights and began to shut the door. But I stopped for a minute and sighed as I looked at our daughter. I felt Natsu wrap his arms around my waist. His chin rested on my shoulder. "I know what you're thinking." He whispered. His hot breath against my ear made my toes tingle.

"She's growing up already..." I whispered, my voice held more emotion than I had meant. But Natsu only kissed my neck. "I know." He seemed just as sad as me. As I looked at my daughter, her pink hair sprawled around her. Toys on the floor of the bedroom. Moonlight crept in from the window. A thought occured to me, a warm thought, that sounded a little crazy. But just right at the same time. The same feeling I had when I'd decided to join Fairy Tail. "One more would be such a bad idea."

I thought he would think it was crazy. Like maybe he'd talk some sense into me. But he just tightened his grip around my waist. "You took the words right out of my mouth."

So.... Here's a chapter.... Um... I'm not dead yet if you were wondering... Just busyish... But... Maybe one more chapter for this? Like an epilouge? This story never had a plot line so I've been just dragging it out. Anyway, thanks so much for all the readers!! I never thought so many people would read my crappy fan fiction!
