This Crazy Life

Chapter 14

Gracie's POV:

I stand there in stunned silence for a moment. "WHAT?!" I scream. Tears spring to my eyes and I kick the wall. "HOW COULD HE DO THIS TO YOU?!" They over flow onto my cheeks. I can tell she is crying on the other end of the line.

"What am I going to do, Gracie? I have my whole life ahead of me!" She pauses and takes a shaky breath. "Grams wants me to end the pregnancy, she says that the baby will poison me because it will be just like... him." I'm so angry I see stars. He ruined her life. He'll pay for this. That no good bastard he'll pay for this. 

"He had no right to do this to you! He had no right to ruin your life this way! He has to pay for this. What did the police say?"

She doesn't say anything for a little while. "I haven't contacted them, and I'm not going to."

"Emmie what are you talking about?!" I sob harder. "You can't just let him do that to you! You have to tell them! What have you been doing this whole time?!"

"Gracie stop it. You don't know what it's like. If I contact the police there will be a trial. I'll have to relive the most shame filled, horrifying night of my life and I just..," She is screaming and sobbing into the phone. "I can't do that! I can't deal with this right now!"

I sink down onto the floor. "This is my fault! If I hadn't been so drunk, if I hadn't found that guy I could have helped you! I could have stopped this." Matt and Gilinsky poke their heads out off Matt's room, seeing me in a crumpled heap on the floor. 

"I just need your support, Gracie. I just need you to know that you'll back me up no matter what I decide to do." I nod my head, although she can't see me. "Of course."

"Bye Gracie." I bury my head in my hands and just start sobbing. Matt and Gilinsky rush over to me. They get me onto my feet and bring me back into their room. "What happened? What's wrong?" They sit me down on a chair and bring me some water, sitting on either sides of me. Hayes, Johnson, Mahogany, and Jacob are in here also. Mahogany takes one look at me and order everyone except Matt and Glinsky out, since they are busy getting me something to eat. She comes over to me and takes my hand. 

"What happened Gracie?" Matt and Gilinsky sit next to us, all three of them have been really great friends to me. I know I can trust them. I tell them all about the party at Blake's house on Friday night, how drunk I was, and how I met the beautiful mystery boy in the Bastille T-Shirt. 

"Like the one you're wearing right now?" Matt asks, pointing at my shirt. I didn't even look at what I grabbed out of my bag this morning, I didn't even know I packed this. "Yeah I woke up in this the next morning and kept it." I go on to tell them about Emmie and Ben, and what is happening to her now because of him. "This is my fault," I start to cry. "I could have stopped him! I should have never gotten so drunk. I should have never spent the night with that guy. I don't even know his first name." 

"So you don't know exactly what happened between the two of you?" Gilinsky asks. I shake my head. "The only thing I remember is quoting Shakespeare to him. He quoted it back to me. And he sang to me. Sometime that night he sang to me, summertime sadness. It was so beautiful." Mahogany stands up to hug me. 

"What happened to your friend wasn't your fault Gracie. It was Ben's. He's the one that ruined Emmie's life, not you." Matt and Gilinsky agree with her, and we all hug. I hear Taylor calling my name in the hall. "Please don't tell him what I told you! I'll tell him about the party and Emmie and Ben, but not about the mystery boy. I don't want to ruin things between us. Please?" They nod and Taylor enters the room. 

He rushes over to me and kneels down, taking my hand. "I heard you crying and yelling out in the hall what's going on?!" I retell the story for him, only leaving out the mystery boy. Matt, Gilinsky, and Mahogany jump in from time to time. He wipes my tears with his thumb and wraps me in his arms. "I love you," He whispers so low only I can hardly hear him. "I love you too." 

"Let's get ready for today guys, it's the first Magcon event! We can get right back to worrying about this when it's over, but for know lets go have a GREAT day!" Mahogany cheers. I give everyone a hug before I leave and thank them for being there. "No problem Gracie." Matt kisses my cheek and winks at Taylor.

"Love you girl," Gilinksy says, making a weird face and wrapping me in a bear hug. Mahogany does the same thing. She is probably my closest friend here. "Thank you so much for being here, I really owe you." 

She smiles at me. "That's what sisters do. Now go put on your happy face and lets do this!" I laugh and walk out the door with Taylor on my arm. I'm so lucky to have these amazing people in my life now.
