Caleb Matthews and Mike Williams like this.

Mike Williams: It took you long enough.

Caleb Matthews: Congratulations Dean! Welcome to the technological age!

Dean Baker: Very funny, guys.

Mike Williams: Look! He knows how to comment.

CHAPTER 11:

Monday came around and we were all at the cafeteria. The girls were hounding me all day for details on my date with Gabriel. I told Dean all about it the day before and he just listened, but I did leave out the details on the hugging and the kiss on the cheek. I was not sure if it was going to make Dean uncomfortable.

"Come on Leb," Jenny said. "We've been waiting all weekend for the details."

Alison and Michelle were listening intently and even Marc looked curious. Mike and Dean were whispering things to each other, but I could not make out what they were saying.

"Well, first, he picked me up and we went to a field near the beach. We tossed a football around and we ate. After that, we went down to the beach for a swim and watched the sunset." They sighed in unison. "Then we ate dinner at the local fast food joint and that's pretty much it."

"Aw, come on, Leb, you're terrible at storytelling," Michelle said. "Where's the romance and mushy stuff?"

"I keep forgetting, when it comes to my seemingly romantic affairs, you're a full on girl."

"Yeah, like I haven't heard that before, now spill," she said.

"Okay, so we may have held hands, hugged, and he might have kissed me on the cheek on the porch when he dropped me off."

The three girls squealed and we had to cover our ears.

"Hey Caleb, do you mind if I join you?"

We all turned to see Gabriel with a lunch tray in his hands. Jenny, who was sitting to my right, quickly got up and sat next to Alison, who was sitting across me. Dean elbowed me, which meant I had to say something.

"I think that's a definite yes," I said. Gabriel took a seat next to me. I leaned against him like a reflex. He smiled at our contact. The girls were watching us like lovesick teenage girls, which they were. Marc was trying to start a conversation with Gabriel, but Michelle kept shushing him.

"I think we should give these girls what they want," I whispered.

"Only if you want to too," he whispered back.

"I wouldn't pass up the chance," I said as I opened my hand. He smiled and he placed his hand in mine. The girls were practically bouncing in their seats when we locked our fingers. What I did not expect was him placing a kiss on the back of my hand. I did not think I ever felt my face get as hot as it was when I realized what he did.

"Very smooth, bro," Danny said from the table next to us. Carmen was next to him and she was giggling.

"You know me," he said. "This is finally my chance."

"Alright Gabe, that's enough," I said lightly. "We should be eating lunch. That also includes everyone here." I looked at the girls who gave up and started eating their food.
