Suzanna's POV

"You're..."

My mom said.

"I'm a what?! What am I?"

Then my door broke open. The men that were downstairs with my father were now standing in front of my broken doorframe.

"Why don't you come with us little girl. We'll definitely tell you what you are and where you came from. Isn't that right... Lisa?"

The man in the center said staring between my mother and I.

My body stiffens as I look at my mother in confusion. She drags me to the window saying,
"I promise to meet you at the ball. Me and your father. Please just go to Gabriel I know he's Christina's mate and he'll know who you are. You used to be best friends. Please leave and get to the ball tonight."

Leaving my mother and father with those people was the hardest thing that I had to do, but I knew I had to jump out my window and run to Christina's house without looking back. There were men outside the front door and they immediately ran after me. Just great...

For the second time today a set of adrenalin began kicking in. Picking up my pace, I start zig zagging around the town seeking some shelter in small nooks and crannies. Who was I? Why go to the ball? Who were those men and what did they want with me? Who was Gabriel and how would he know who I was? Finally I saw an opening to Christina's house through their kitchen window. Once I saw there were no goons insight I crawl through the window and say,

"Gabriel! Gabriel? Do you remember me?"

Gabriel came down in a flash staring at me in confusion. It was not until a few short awkward moments of silence recognition struck the both of us. These memories hit us like a truck. Images of when we were kids playing tag, hide and seek, house, promising to be one another mates, him protecting me when the King... when the King tried to take me.

"Astheum? Astheum you're alive!"

Gabriel shouted and hugged me.

"Ummm... call this awkward? Why are you two friends now and why are you two holding one other in a more than friendly way?!"

Christina said.

I release Gabriel and walk in front of Christina lightly touching her forehead. All of Gabriel and my memories went through her eyes. Her face changes from curiosity to fear. She backs up almost tripping over the wooden chair that was behind her.

"Seriously Chris!"
I shout,
"There's not going to be anything going on between me and your mate okay. We were kids. Saying kid things!"

"No it's not that you touched my head and everything between you two flooded into my head why?! How the heck did you do that?!"

"Chris I don't know what I am yet, but I'll find out tonight at the Prince's ball please you have to help me out! My parents will be expecting me there and I kinda ditched at the end."

"Seriously!? I knew you would ditch! Why did you... Why am I even asking you this question! You always skip the end? Seriously! I almost lost my mate because I got you this. Here are lucky I love you!"

Christina said handing me the invitation.

The invitation was white and beautiful embroidery saying, Be My Quest. It smelt like roses as I opened it.
