On Duty

Astheum's POV

Before I could close my eyes and rest, Lilia kept whining and begging for me to creep into that mysterious man's room again. I had no idea who that man was, but that darn scent brought me peace and happiness. Walking into his room I couldn't help but admire everything about it.
Lay in his sheets Astheum. Lilia said.
Ahh... No! What if he finds out that someone was in here?
Personally he's a guy and he would never even figure out if he was missing a... Lilia said sending images of a very private place. This causes me to blush extremely and I attempt to remove those images from my mind.
Please for me? Lilia whines.
I eventually give in and jump into the covers basking myself in his scent. Before I knew it, took a nap.
Astheum! Get up! Get up!
Dishearten I woke up and saying, What Lilia?
Get out of the room the owner's coming back I can feel his presence!
Just with that I dash out the door and into my room. By the time I got into my room I walk to my bed, close my eyes, and fall asleep with the smell of home fresh and awake in my mind. Ash! Ash! Get up or you'll be late for breakfast! Lilia shouts at me. Stretching and rolling off bed I got myself ready for the day.

Once I reach the kitchen it was dead silent, no one was there because it was only five in the morning. Finishing up my dishes I put them away and walk into the King's office at exactly six fifteen in the morning. The King was already up sitting at his desk consumed with paper work. I could feel tension and grief emitting off him.

"Why would you do this by yourself? Can you not get your son to come and help you?"
I asked.

King Daemon's face began to contort in confusion. He must not of heard me when I came in. Regaining his composure he looks out the window then glances at the clock saying,
"It's only six twenty? When did you get here?"

I shrug and say, "Around six fifteen. I didn't want to be late. Why are you doing all this paper work by yourself. I know it's not my place to ask, but I just felt like I had to."

The King sighs and rubs his temples saying,
"I don't like it when my son helps me that's all. It's not that he's lazy it's just that I prefer to have him here to..."

I raised a brow and crossed my arms over one another. "Rumor has it that is not your son? Where is your son?"

The King's face hardens and as he was about to say something.

Boom

"I am right here mystery girl."
A man says as he enters the door.
The king's face begins to soften and he smiles saying, "Son!"

They embrace and a beautiful girl came through the door. She had fire red hair, forest green eyes, light complexion, and freckles on her cheeks. She was slimmer than me, she was very petite. When she came in the king turns saying, "Is this her?"
He nods his head and she blushes immensely. I felt like I was intruding so I quietly left the room to wonder through the palace.

Lucan's POV

I awoke to the familiar presence of Loupe, my uncle's son and my dear cousin. I ran through the halls disregarding my half dressed attire bursting into my uncle's office. I see him, my uncle, and a petite girl that smelt like Loupe, which I consider was his mate.
"Loupe? No way! Your back!"
"Little cousin! I seen you have not aged one bit since the last time I have seen you." Loupe said rubbing my head and giving me a hug.
"I see you've found your mate Loupe."
Loupe laughs and says, "Yeah I did and she's pregnant with my little Loupe."
My uncle's face beams with excitement and hugs Loupe's mate softly, welcoming her into the family.
"Cousin you might want to change because you're still in your under garments."
Looking down and then my uncle and Loupe's mate. They were laughing at me while I was rubbing my head saying, "Okay see you all during breakfast."
Walking out I close the door quickly behind me.
Do you smell that amazing mouth watering scent again? Delphic asks me.
I just realized it, but yes now I do... Is she here?I don't know, but something's weird...
And with that I walk to my chambers getting myself properly ready to go to breakfast.

Astheum's POV

As I start walking back to the king's office, I see a man half naked man walk out and a strong scent of home following him. What the heck is wrong with me? I thought and quickly walk into the room greeting everyone there. The room got horribly quiet once I finish.
"Well beautiful lady. I'm Loupe."
A man said while lifting my hand towards his lips.
I quickly remove my hand right when he was about to kiss it and the young lady smacks him upside the head. "Loupe I swear one more little thing and I'm leaving!"
"Enough."
A soft, but powerful voice said as it came through the door.
"Your majesty."
I said with a slight bow.
"You are no longer of need for the King, dear Astheum. I want you to be here. So please consider yourself as our guest. You and Melony will be best of friends while Daemon and Loupe will work on king duties. Okay?"
Everyone could tell from the Kong's face was about to protest, but the queens stern face made him remain silent.
"As you wish love." The King agrees hesitantly and Melony rejoices and hugging the Queen. Realizing that the young lady was now dragging me along with her.

We walk through the dark and lonely halls, beautiful and gardens, every high and low place in the palace, but still could not uncover all the palace had to offer. Once we got to the sanctuary of my room I flop onto my soft white couch while Melony jumps on the other and we sat in silence until she spoke,
"Have you ever been in love before Astheum?"
I turn my head to face the girl who was just happily frolicking down the halls and gardens now looking sad and filled with confusion. I walk over to her and sit on the ground facing my bathroom door saying,
"That Melony I don't know, but Loupe's your mate is he not?"
Melony sat up right and motions me to sit next to her. I got up and sat down next to her and she said,
"He is... The sparks are there whenever he touches me. The scent is so enjoyable it suffocates me. He's so beautiful and is a crown prince, but look at me. I'm nothing."
I look into her eyes and realizes she's conflicted. I look around the room and saw some tissues by the bedpost so I walk over and grab the box handing her a tissue and she blew her nose.
"Now, now, Melony. Fate put you here for a reason and there's a purpose for why you two are together. Time, place, status, looks, and appeal shouldn't stop you from approaching this guy. Go up to him with confidence and get your mate! If I had my mate..."
I trail off and sigh.
"I would definitely get him and regardless of anything I'd be with him."
Melony takes a deep breath and nods.

Right then my white door bursts open and an angry looking Loupe storms into my room. Everything in his way was thrown out of his way, but the man I saw earlier this morning was with him... This was the very man that I could not get my mind off this entire morning. His scent engulfing me but in a good way. I did the best thing one could do in this situation.

I ran.
