A Night with the Matarazzos||     Gaten x Reader

It was 7 pm in New Jersey, and the summer sun was just beginning to set. I was just about to start getting ready to go out. When I say 'out' I mean over to Gaten's house. Even though we've stopped filming Stranger Things now we still meet up and spend time together especially since we live near each other. He lives on the street next to mine and it only takes me about five minutes to walk there. Usually, when I go over there in the evenings I just go in my pajamas. There aren't many people out by the time I leave.

I showered, put on fresh pajamas, braided my hair, and threw some clean clothes, a toothbrush, hairbrush, charger and my book in my backpack. After slipping my shoes and hoodie on and saying goodbye to my parents I started making my way to Gaten's. He had told me to come over tonight because his parents were out of town for a couple of days so it was just him and his siblings. I always loved spending time with them all. Especially Sabrina.
The sun set looked beautiful so I took a quick photo for Snapchat and then continued walking. Before I knew it I was at Gaten's front door. I walked up to his drive and was about to knock but Carmen opened the door before I got the chance.

"Y/N!" He smiled and ushered me in before shouting up the stairs, "GATEN! YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS HERE!"

Gaten was not my boyfriend but Carmen was always insisting that he was. I elbowed him and he just laughed. Gaten came bounding down the steps with his sister Sabrina behind him. He hugged me and said hello, as did Sabrina.
"We're ordering pizza," He said with an adorable smile, "Is that okay?"
"Sure. You know me, I'm always down for pizza."
We all went into the living room and sat down. I slipped my shoes off and put my bag down. As weird as it sounds, I always felt more at home at the Matarazzo's than when I was in my own house.
"We should watch a horror movie!" Sabrina said with a devilish grin
"Yes!" Carmen and I said at the same time
"How about," Gaten switched Netflix on and clicked on the horror section, "The Conjuring."
"Okay but if we all get nightmares blame Sabrina," I said
"Hey, you all agreed to it!" She said defensively. "I'm going to order the pizza, don't start without me.""
"I'm going upstairs to get my phone and change," Carmen said and winked at me. I just rolled my eyes. Gaten stood up and moved so he was sitting next to me.
"Picture for Snapchat and Instagram?"
"Sure. I want to take one too, but you know what will happen."
"Yeah I know, the comments will all just be people asking if we're a couple. Everyone should be used to it by now. You're here more than you're in your own house. Which is a good thing." He added hastily
"True. Okay, let's take the photos."

We did and on my pictures, Sabrina and Carmen got in. I saved them and uploaded them on all of my social medias. Spending the night in the Matarazzo residence again!!! That was my caption.
"Okay," Sabrina started, "Prepare to get the living crap scared out of you."
I looked up at Gaten. We smiled at each other before he pressed play.

We ate our pizza and watched the rest of the movie that did what we thought it would: scare the shit out of us. It was about 9:30 pm now and we all decided to watch another movie but one that was less scary. Gaten put Harry Potter on because he knew it was my favorite.

"Y/N," Sabrina said, "Come upstairs with me a minute I need to show you something."
"Okay."
We got up and headed upstairs to Sabrina's room.
"So what did you want to show me?"
"I don't want to show you anything, I need to tell you something but you have to promise not to tell Gaten."
"Okay..."
"I heard him on FaceTime with Finn the other day and they were talking about you."
"They were?" I swallowed, "What were they saying?"
"Well, Finn asked Gaten if he liked you and he said yes. Finn wanted to know if he was going to tell you and Gaten said he was going to tell you tonight but he was worried because he doubted you felt the same way."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah. You do like him don't you?" Despite Gaten being Sabrina's brother I felt comfortable telling her anything
"Yes of course I do."
"Good. I just thought I'd tell you this so you were prepared."
"Thank you, Sabrina."
"Anytime."

We went back downstairs and sat down. Gaten raised his eyebrows at me, asking what happened. I just shook my head and sat next to him, smiling the entire time.

At around midnight, Carmen and Sabrina headed upstairs to bed. When Gaten wasn't looking Sabrina gave me a smile and a nod as if to say good luck. I smiled back and followed Gaten out into the kitchen as we were going to take hot chocolate upstairs.

"Let me make it," I said with a laugh as Gaten was actually reading the instructions on the back of the Cadbury tin. "I can't believe you don't know how to make hot chocolate."
"What? My mum always makes it!"
"Okay, okay. Just let me do it in case you hurt yourself. You seriously are just like Dustin sometimes you know."
"I'm going to take that as a compliment."

I made the hot chocolate while Gaten told me all about the photoshoot that he, Finn, Caleb, and Noah had the other day in New York. On the way upstairs I picked up my bag. When we got to Gaten's room I put it by the door and set my hot chocolate down. I had been in his room many times and we slept in his double bed without it being awkward. It was NEVER weird or like 'that'. We sat on his bed and he put his TV on. It would just be background noise because at this time we usually just stayed up talking or I would beat him at a game of Monopoly. As cringey as that sounds, we loved that game. Speaking of which, Gaten pulled the familiar game out from under his bed with a grin on his face.

"I will beat you this time, Y/N."
"You know that's not true. I am the best at this game. Besides, there's something liberating in watching the light leave someone's eyes as you take everything they once owned."
"Woah calm down Y/N. It's just a game!"
We laughed and began playing.
About half an hour into our game Gaten became quieter and less interested. I knew what was coming.
"Are you okay Gaten?"
"Yes. No. I don't know. I need to tell you something but I don't want it to mess everything up."
"It's fine. Tell me."
"Well, I think I've known for a while now that I like you as more than a friend. I really like you and I have since we met. The reason I haven't said anything is that I don't want to screw this up and I know you probably don't feel the same way-"
"Gaten,"
"It's fine if you don't I mean-"
"GATEN!" He stopped talking and looked up at me. "Stop. I like you too."
"You do?"

I pushed the board game to the floor and kissed him. After a second, Gaten kissed back, putting his hands on my waist.
"FINALLY!" Carmen was standing at the door filming and grinning.
"CARMEN!" Gaten and I both shouted at the same time. I threw a cushion at him and he ran back to his room. Gaten laughed and kissed me again. It was perfect, and I felt even more at home in that moment than I ever had.
