"Okay. Now throw it." said Ashlen.
Bradley threw the knife and it hit the target right on point.
"Nice job little bro." said Ashlen rubbing his head.
"Soon I'll be able to beat your high score." he replied.
"Don't keep your hopes up." said Ashlen. They grabbed their knives and headed back to town.
It was 2017 had been 10 years since the outbreak started. Matt and Steph are still happily married. Hampton has grown more over the past few years. So much so that now they have extended the walls and rebuilt abandoned homes and buildings and turned them into apartments and other facilities. Ashlen and Chris are both 22 now and have been married for one year. Matt, Steph, Jason, Chris, and Dan have started a game store together. They were able to find a way to get a video game council and a tv to work and set it up so kids could play video games. Jenny and her husband, Luke, were able to find a way to bring all electricity back.
As they walked into town Ashlen and Bradley bantered and messed with each other like brothers and sisters do. It was hard for her to believe that he was now the same age she was when the apocalypse happened. Even though Matt and Steph look similar, everyone said he looked like Matt. However, her had Stephanie's darker brown hair and her dark brown eyes. He also was short for his age. Which meant he had her height too.
"So how are Mom and Dad doing?" asked Ashlen.
"Great. Dad was going to ask if Chris today if you guys want to stop by and have dinner?"
"Sure. That sounds great! Mind if I stop by before I go home today?" asked Ashlen.
"Not at all. They'll love it." said Bradley. They walked for a bit more.
"So when do you think they'll take down the walls?" he asked.
"I don't know. Maybe soon." The zombie threat has gone down rapidly in recent years. The theory Matt, Steph, and Ashlen came up with all those years ago about the zombies decaying was proven fact. Some communities have started taking down walls. However, Payton took over for his father, who retired last year, doesn't want them down yet. He is still unsure. Even though a majority of the zombies have started to die out, there were still quite a few left.
Ashlen and Bradley ate in the mess hall and then went to the Patrick's apartment.
"Hey mom." said Bradley as he entered. Steph was reading on the couch. "Hi hon. Oh Ashlen. Wasn't expecting you today." said Steph as she went up to hug her children. Even though Ash had moved out, she still tried to keep a close relationship with Matt and Steph. She became a teacher are the other side of town. Now since so many people had moved in, they have had to set up schools around town so kids didn't have to walk very far.
"Hows work going?" Ashlen asked.
"Good. My husband and your husband are arguing over his art again." she said rolling her eyes. Then Matt and Chris entered the room. "Chris your art is the weirdest thing I have ever seen." said Matthew.
"Just like all great artist I won't be appreciated in my time." he said back.
"Hi Dad, Hi hon." said Ashlen.
"Hey Ash." they both said insink. Ash hugged Matthew and gave Chris a peck on the cheek.
"Hey. I'm sure Bradley has already told you Ash, but would you guys be interested in coming over for dinner tonight?" asked Matthew.
"Sure. Why not." said Chris.
That night they ate to-go meals from the mess hall together.
