"Rowan move out of the way, you're blocking my sun," I groaned. When she didn't moved, I opened my eyes and removed my sunglasses. She stood, looking very upset and held her cell phone at her side. " What's wrong?"
"Ella," She said softly. "There's something I have to tell you?"
"What's up?" I asked sitting up in my chair.
"Ella, something happened at home,"
"Is everyone okay?" I asked.
"No, we need to go home, today, so lets pack up and we'll be on the road in the next hour." She shook her head and started to walk away.
"What's wrong?" I asked running after her. "Rowan? Rowan! Rowan answer me!"
"There was an attack at one of the Alpha meetings." She said moving into the house and up the stairs.
"Who's hurt?" I asked right behind her.
"Pack now Ella!" She shouted and I went to my room and changed clothes. "Hurry please, hurry."
"What happened?" I shoved everything into my duffel bag and dragged it into the hallway and helped Rowan pack.
"An ambush happened and Elder Eugene was shot with this poison dart and dropped dead, and so did two others. Alpha Daniel, Alpha Ralph, and Markus shifted and fought, but there was too many and help was almost ten minutes away." She rushed out.
"What happened next?"
"They killed Alpha Ralph and Jasmine." I froze in place. Alpha Ralph and Jasmine were dead? That can't be right? They can't be dead.
"No," I said. "They can't be...Oh my God. What about Markus?"
"Ella, that's not what I'm worry about,"
"They're dead and you're not worried about it!" I shouted. "They're dead Rowan."
"Ella, your dad," She moved so she was in front of me, holding my hands. "Your dad,"
I couldn't believe it. My eyes started to tear and she held my shoulder. "He's what? What Rowan!? What?!"
"He's dead." She explained. I didn't know how to react my father and everyone is dying. I remembered I was standing then I moved to the bed, where I sat down and curled my knees to my chest. My papa was brain dead, the one that loved me and care for me. The one who took me out for ice-cream and made my birthday parties the best. The one who loved me.
"M-My...d-d-dad-dy?"
"Ella," She said calmly. "We have to leave right now."
"My dad..."
~
"Mom," I said quickly running into a tight embrace. She hugged me back, sobbing profusely into my shoulder. "mom, it's going to be okay."
She just cried and cried on my shoulder and I rubbed her hair like she did so many times with me when Markus has done something to me. Now I have to be here for her like she's be there for me. She sobbed over and over, screaming my dad's name. Rowan stood at my front door, paralyzed from shock.
"Rowan, why don't you go home?" I said. "I think I can handle it from here."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah," I strain to refrain myself from crying in front of my mother. "I call you tonight."
"Okay," She closed her door on the way out. I pulled my mother into the living room and sat her on the couch.
"I'm going to get some tissues." I got up and walked to the kitchen and met face-to-face with Markus. He was leaning against the counter. Tired, with bags underneath his eyes, a scowl permanent set on his face. He looked sluggish more than angry. I ignored his presence and continued my journey through the kitchen and to the cabinet where the napkins were held. I had to moved right next to him to get the napkins, and I heard a growl emit from his throat. I don't know if he's angry or horny, either way I don't care. A lot happened the last three months and my angry towards him has greatened, but my personality has grew and my shy exterior was now as bubbly as SpongeBob. I'm happy at last, and not worried that if I see Markus I'll bust out in tears.
