Making up

*A month before the due date.*
I'm sitting in my office, at the mines in Singleton, and I keep trying to get comfortable. KL isn't having any of it though. He keeps moving around and it's making it to where I can't find comfort.
Pete walks in and hands me my lunch and says, "Still can't get comfortable little one?"
I shake my head and pout at him.
He laughs and says, "Nothing I can do about it, Sis. You better go talk to Heffernan for getting you pregnant."
I make a face and mumble, "We're still not really talking to each other."
Pete says, "KL is due in a few weeks, Star. Maybe you two should get over it and move on. Dear lord your in love with the boy and he's in love with you. Plus it would be easier on me so I didn't have to stay with you until KL is born."
"Oh so you don't like hanging out with me?" I quickly ask him.
Pete kisses my head and mumbles, "I love hanging out with you but there are things I could be doing at the house."
I make a face at him and mumble, "I'll think about it."
As I say this Mr. Paul steps in my door way and says, "There's my favorite pregnant daughter."
Pete jokingly says, "Not sure if I'd call her my favorite with how moody she's been here recently. KL is doing a number on her."
Paul smiles and says, "That's okay Cody did the same thing to his momma when she was pregnant with him."
He walks over to me and looks at me. I know he's asking for permission to touch my stomach. I smile and nod at him. He puts his hands on my stomach and says, "KL, let's let your momma relax a little bit bud. She's gonna have her hands full when your born because of being hers and your dad's."
I smile at him and quickly nod my head.
"Dinner tonight at the house, kiddo?" He asks me.
"I guess so..." I quietly say to him.
"He won't be there, Star. He's suppose to be out with some friends." Paul quickly tells me.
I nod and mumble, "Okay. I'll be there."

*Later that night*
I'm almost to the door when Casey steps outside.
"Star! Can you do me a favor? Go to the barn real quick and down to the last stall and grab my phone. I left it in there like a crazy person." Casey quickly says to me.
I nod my head and head down to the barn. I get to the last stall and walk in when the door slams behind me. I start banging on it.
"They aren't going to let us out until we talk about all this, Starlee." Cody says to me.
"Talk about what? We're fine, Cody." I quickly say to him.
He shakes his head and whispers, "No, we are not fine. Your almost 9 months pregnant, Star. We're barley talking to each other. Damnit, Starlee, I'm in love with you. I hate that it's been Fraser and now Pete there for your whole pregnancy. It was suppose to be me. I screwed up and I'll own up that I did. I know it takes time but damnit I've apologized over and over again."
I tear up because I know at the end of the day I do love Cody. He has apologized every chance he's gotten to and I've brushed him off for it.
I feel him pull me into his arms and kiss the top of my head.
I bury my face into his shirt and whisper that I love him too.
"Can we please for our child's sake move on? I'll kiss the ground you walk on or do whatever I need to do to get you to understand I'm sorry. I miss you. I hate that I haven't got to experience a lot with KL like...."
Before he could even finish I quickly kiss him to make him shut up.
"If you want to help right now then I need you to just talk to KL. He calms down a lot when he hears your voice. He knows who his dad is and he likes when your talking to him." I place Cody's hands on my stomach where KL is kicking at.
Cody grins and says, "Hey, KL. Stop driving your mum insane. I hear she's getting real moody and is snapping at people."
I roll my eyes but smile as I feel KL calm down. While I'd love for him to be a momma's boy I have a feeling he's going to be his daddy's buddy.
"Code, are you going to ask me anything?" I quietly ask him.
He smiles and says, "Starlee Annamarie, will you be my girlfriend again?"
I laugh and nod my head at him. He kisses me.
"Can you tell Brad and Craig to let us out now? I'm starving and so is your son." I quickly say to Cody.
I see him pull out his phone and call them. He tells them we're fine and to come let us out. They finally make it down there and we all head back to the house.
Cody grabs my hand and interlocks our fingers. He stops and says, "Star?"
I look at him and smile.
"I love you more than you'll ever know, princess." He quietly whispers to me.
"Love you too, Code." I whisper back.
He puts his other hand on my stomach and whispers, "Love you too, KL. I guess I'm gonna have to learn to share your momma with you."
I smile and kiss his cheek.
We walk into the house and I see the whole family sitting there.
"Yes, were back together before anyone asks." I quickly tell them.
"OMG!! Can I start planing the wedding?!?" Casey excitedly asks us.
"Case, were not getting married anytime soon. We just got back together. We're going to take it slow." I tell her.
She looks at us and then mumbles, "As quick as you two move I won't be surprised if we're planning a wedding before long."
I give her a look but ignore her. Cody gives her a look that we both know means to be quiet.
As a family, we sit around the table and talk about KL and other things that are going on in everyone's life.
