I woke up to the sweet fragrance of blueberry muffins and quickly jumped out of my bed. I slid on some white capris and a baby blue v-neck before slipping on my grey vans. I decided on lightly curling the ends of my hair and pinning the sides back because hey, it's Saturday.

I put on my foundation, and I added a little bit of a light gold color eye shadow to bring out the green in my eyes. I touched it up with some eyeliner and finished the look off with mascara. I took one last look in the mirror before grabbing my phone, keys, and my wallet and heading to the kitchen.

"Hey mom," I smiled. My mother was only 39. She had short dark brown hair and brown eyes, she was fairly tall for a woman her age but she constantly called herself short. She gave me a smile before placing a plate in front of me with three blueberry muffins on it.

"What's the special occasion?" I questioned.

She just shrugged, "A mother can't make her daughter her favorite breakfast food without it being a special occasion?"

"No, You can't," I laughed.

"Oh whatever, What are you planning on doing today?" She asked.

"I don't know, I was thinking about going to see a friend actually."

"Alaina?"

I shook my head, "No, I met him on my first day but we just started becoming 'acquaintances' I guess," I explained using air quotes.

"Oh so it's a boy?" She raised an eyebrow at me.

I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks, I shoved a muffin into my mouth hoping to be able to dodge any further questions, but unfortunately my mom doesn't give up so easily.

"Is he your boyfriend?

Is he cute?

Is he polite?

Is he-"

"Mom," I groaned. "He's just a friend."

"Alright, I'll see you later sweetie," She said while planting a quick kiss on my cheek before walking back to the kitchen.

"Bye Mom!" I yelled as I walked out of the front door. It was beautiful in Sydney today, sunny and warm with a slight breeze. I ran down the two staircases into the parking lot where I climbed into my charcoal grey truck.

I pulled out of the lot and drove to the library, I rummaged around the glovebox before I found the book I had to return before they charged me for it.

I jumped out of my truck and walked into the library to be met with the same woman who sat at the front desk every day I came.

"Riley! How are you dear?" Mrs. Chapman cooed. Her sudden speech made some people turn their attention towards the door, and when I mean some people, I mean the unmistakable golden haired boy in the back. He quickly diverted his gaze back to the large book in front of him and continued reading.

"I'm fine, I just came to return this." I said while handing her back the book.

"Alright, feel free to get another one if you like." She said. I mumbled a 'Thank You' before walking towards the bookshelf full of the leather books. I grabbed the smallest one and turned around to find a seat when my gaze fell on Ashton. I took a deep breath and walked straight towards his booth. I plopped myself on the opposite side of the table and opened my book immediately. He seemed startled by my sudden appearance but he gently shook his head and focused on his book once again.

It was about ten minutes before I slammed my book shut and looked at him. Ashton's head shot up and he looked at me with complete confusion.

"Hi Ashton." I said. He just nodded and looked back to his book.

"You come here a lot, always looking at those old books. Anything specific you're looking for?" I asked hoping to get him to admit about researching about seekers, but he just shrugged.

"Okay that was a trick question, I know what you're trying to find." I said.

Ashton shook his head, keeping his full attention on the book. No you don't.

"Yes I do. As a matter of fact, I know a lot about seekers." I stated.

He froze in his place, as if he had just lost all of his energy to move. Ashton lifted his head and I knew I finally had his attention.

"Listen, Ashton, I know what happened last February." I explained.

How could you know. You weren't even in this country.

"I know because- because Luke told me." I stuttered. Ashton's eyes went wide and I could see the doubt in his eyes.

You're lying.

"But I'm not. I promise Ashton I'm not lying to you. I can understand what you're thinking for God's sake. If that doesn't tell you anything then I don't know what does."

Ashton remained silent, his face was now emotionless.

"Believe me. I'm not lying to you." I said. I smiled as I watched Ashton nod his head, I believe you.
