•Ashton's POV•

I waited anxiously sitting in me and Riley's usual booth in the back of the library. I rubbed my hands against my thighs as I sighed, she was fifteen minutes late. Just when I was about to text her, the library door opened. I looked up and saw Riley with a smile on her face, she practically skipped over to our table, that beautiful smile never leaving her face.

Riley's basically my only friend right now other than my family. Sure, Luke was still around but I think he knew I'm not ready to see him in person yet. I gave her a small smile as she slide into the booth across from me.

"Somebody's happy," I laughed. About two weeks after I met Riley, I decided to actually talk to her. I surprised her when she showed up by just saying a simple 'Hey Riley' and she freaked out.

I smiled as Riley's cheeks flushed, "I had a pretty crazy day," she said.

"What happened?"

"Well for starters, my school caught on fire, I went to lunch with a friend, and I- uh- may or may not had my first kiss..." she trailed off. I felt my heart sink to the bottom of my chest, but I kept a smile on my face. I had grown a small crush- well I wouldn't call it small being she hasn't left my mind for the past couple weeks, but I had a crush on Riley but I knew I'd never stand a chance.

"Ash?" She called, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry, so who was that first kiss?"

Her cheeks turned pink as she ran her fingers through her long brown hair, "It may or may not have been someone who's not exactly," she paused, "alive."

My smile disappeared,

She kissed Luke.

Luke kissed her.

I quickly stood up and grabbed my backpack from beside me and slung it over my shoulder, not looking Riley in the eyes.

"Ashton?" she called but I ignored her. I ran as quickly as I could out of the library and into the pouring rain. I know Riley usually walks here, and judging from the fact that her truck was nowhere in the lot that she walked today. I usually gave her a ride home, but instead I rushed to my car and drove away from the building, and away from her.

•Michael's POV•

I got home and was instantly hit with the fragrance of burned pizza, I hurried to the kitchen and opened the oven, pulling out a charred pepperoni pizza.

"Mike, You're home!" My dad said surprised as he entered the kitchen of our rather large house.

"Yeah, You burned the pizza," I stated.

"Yeah," he said while scratching the back of his neck,"I forgot about that."

I rolled my eyes,"I'll be upstairs."

I hurried up the steps and into my bedroom. I plopped down on my bed face down and groaned. I laid there for about ten minutes when my stomach growled. "Shit," I grumbled while sitting up. I knew we didn't have any decent food so I grabbed my car keys and my phone and rushed down the stairs.

"I'm picking up some pizza since you burned the only decent food we have in this house," I told my dad while walking out the door. I crawled into my black camero and pulled out of the driveway and onto the interstate. The heavy rain pounded against my windshield as Blink 182 blasted through the car. I was about to pull into Pizza Hut when my phone started buzzing with an unfamiliar number flashing at the top. I turned off the radio and grabbed my phone.

"Hello?" I said.

"Michael? Do I have the right number?" A female said from the other line.

"Riley?" I asked surprised.
