Chapter 37

"Heiwajima Shizuo was called by the principal."

"What did he do this time?"

"Could he had killed someone for real?"

"Or maybe he destroyed the public properties again?"

It wasn't the first time Shizuo had been called to the principal office but I had a bad feeling about that time, thanks to Shinra's deduction.

"Wow! I saw a lot of patrol cars! What did Shizuo destroy yesterday?" Shinra looked amazed by the view through the window. On the other side, I didn't feel the same way. I felt uneasy for all of sudden. 

"I don't know." Something big must have happened. I needed to know. "Shinra, I'll go to the principal office."

"What? What are you doing?" Shinra turned his head around to me. 

"I need to know what's happened." I couldn't tell him that I wanted to eavesdrop the principal office. Ever since Mikage's incident, I became brave enough to know there for myself. 

I was about to spin around until I bumped into a body in front of me. I stepped back, rubbing my nose.

"I suggest you not to."

"Kadota!" Shinra exclaimed.

"What do you mean?" I frowned.

"There're a lot of policemen out there. I think this isn't a simple case again for Shizuo." Kadota deducted. "I'm worried if they decide to arrest him this time."

"But didn't they once try to arrest him too but couldn't? Even the judge couldn't make any verdicts toward him." Shinra asked, confused just like me.

"I don't think it's about destroying public properties anymore." Oh, God. Even Kadota sounded worried. As he suggested, we decided to wait in the class, hoping the news would reach our ears sooner.

We received the news after the break, but not a good one. As soon as I heard it, I reached out for my phone and texted Shizuo. But he didn't reply again for the whole day. So, I decided to rush to the police station right after the school ended.

"You're Heiwajima Shizuo's friend?"

I nodded.

"You're here to visit him, right?"

I nodded again. Of course, I was. 

"I'm surprised to discover that monster has a friend t-"

"He's not a monster." I cut the policeman, pissed by how he called Shizuo as a monster. He didn't even look like one. People should stop comparing him to a beast just because he had an unusual power. That policeman wasn't the only one who seemed surprised to see my incoming. When I asked the front desk if I was able to see Shizuo, they all started to gossip behind me. I could see them whispering right after I left them.

Do these people really think that Shizuo doesn't have a friend? How stupid.

"I'm sorry." the policeman cleared his throat, starting to feel awkward. 

"This way." The policeman led me to a room which had several temporary jails. There were only three people in there, including Shizuo in an empty prison. The policeman must have separated him from other criminals.

"Shizuo?" I called out to him. Shizuo who had been seating, immediately stood up once he noticed me.

"Keiko? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to go home?" Shizuo's hands were handcuffed. Goddamit, why would policeman lock him like that, while the other prisoners weren't? It's not like he will break from the prison and run away.
