Chapter 28

Today was Mathematics. I was already in panic mode. What am i going to write? I wasn't prepared at all, scratch that, I am never prepared for maths. I opened my book with the hope of reading something but my brain was locked and the padlock no where to be found.

I paced around my room thinking for a plan. I picked up my phone and dialed Daniella's number. It was ringing but she wasn't picking.

What she could be doing?

Or maybe she has gone to school?

"Favour, are you ready"

My Mom called distracted me. She was preparing my favourite food but sorry i have no appetite.

"Yes,am coming"

God help me in this exam.

"What took you so long? Eat and start going, the exam will soon start"

She said placing my food on the table. She thinks the exam starts exactly 9:00am but no, we have to wait for question paper and answer booklet to arrive first,before we start and that can take up to 15 mins to an hour plus.

"Let me take it to school instead"

I said pouring the food inside a flask.

"Why na,eat something, don't faint inside exam hall oh"

My Mom said dragging her ears emphasizing the word 'faint'.

"I won't,am not that weak,ok,bye,see you in the evening"

I said opening the door and going towards the gate.

I stopped a tricycle and head to school.

The school compound was already crowded with students. Both science and arts students are writing this subject. Mathematics is not an optional subject.

It is compulsory!

Its like my worst nightmare. My brain cells are too weak for calculation. I just hope the supervisors will understand but they won't.

I searched for my friends Mary and Daniella.

Mary was sitting under a tree memorising the solving methods.

Oh no!

At least something has entered her brain mine is still empty.

I quickly sat down close to her.

"How far have you gone"

Mary asked me.

"No where!"

I exclaimed.

"Have you seen Daniella?"

I asked her. She has entered another page of the math text book. She's fast!

"She's with the head boy from Standard dreams international school"

"What is she doing with him"

I asked her surprisingly because the Daniella i know does not hang out with guys except she's hiding something i don't know off.

"The boy is helping her study. I heard he his very intelligent and since she has a crush on him its an opportunity to be with me"

Mary said leaving me in surprise mode.

"Wow, she's has a crush!"

I exclaimed. She has never said anything about her love life.

"Everybody enter the exam hall"

The supervisors announcement distracted me from my thinking.

"What! No way,I have not read anything!
