Chapter 1: First day back

[SHANES POV]

 After a long, relaxing summer, I knew I had to go back to school tomorrow, but hey at least I’ll be a senior this year. I know that everyone says that high school is supposed to be the best four years of your life but so far the past three years have been kind of normal. Nothing too exciting, so I really hope this year will be great. I want to remember this year, whether it be good or bad. I hope it’ll be memorable.

 —Next Day—

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. It read 6:00 A.M.

 “Ugh fuck school” I groaned and then got up and rubbed my eyes, it was sunny outside which somehow put me in a better mood. I don’t know, nice weather makes me feel better…weird.

 I went downstairs to make breakfast,  “Morning hunny” my mom said, she sounded happy as usual. Almost too happy for someone up at 6.

“Hey mom” I replied looking as dead as ever. 

"Okay, so I made you pancakes, there over there" she pointed towards the counter top, "and... your coffee is still brewing." 

"Thanks" I said trying to smile, it was pretty hard, I was so tired.

"No problem," she said and kissed my head, "now go get ready, I have to leave for work now. 

"Okay" I replied.

"Have a great first day of school" she said enthusiastically, as usual.

"I'll try too"

I got dressed and then ate my breakfast and drove to school. I parked my car and walked into school.

"Hey Shane!" Sawyer said

"Hey what's up!" I replied

He was already talking to a bunch of our friends, and as I walked over we all started talking about our summer, and how were all excited to be graduating and all that other stuff. After the first period bell rang I said bye to all of them and walked to my first period class, which was Chemistry.

I walked in and saw my classmates, no one too exciting, everyone I'm used to seeing. Good thing though was that our teacher had me for Biology so he already knew me and liked me.

We all sat down in random seats and he began speaking. "Alright guys, I'm going to be your Chemistry teacher this year, my name's Mr.Optium, some of you may have had me for sophomore Bio so you already know how I am, but for those of you who don't know me, don't worry, I'm not going to stress you guys out with a load of unnecessary work, I choose to be the more calm teachers. Having said that, in order for me to remain calm, I'm assigning you you're seats so that I can try memorizing your names and cut down the chatter".

He started assigning people to desks, there was a desk that two people could sit at.

"Katie and Marie, I want you over here" he anounced, "Um...Brian and Kal over here, Tania and Chris right here" he continued, pointing to the desks, "Well well, Shane! Nice seeing you again" he said laughing.

"I know Mr.Optium, I know you're very excited I'm your student again!" I said playing along. Mr.Optium was probably one of my favorite teachers, he was super nice, and very chill. Good thing I was on his good side cause I could get benefits like answers, or extra help and all that. 

"Um...Shane I want you over here with..." he looked around the room for another person. "What was your name again sir?" He asked talking to a boy in the back.

"Uh, Joey" the boy paused. "Joey Graceffa" he said. He was sitting in the back, and holy shit was he attractive. He had this perfect hair, and these bright emerald eyes. We was wearing a blue t-shirt and long jeans. He stood up and went to the desk he was assigned to sit at. 

I got up as well and moved to my seat. I didn't want to stare at him too much, mainly because 1) he would get super freaked out and 2) probably is straight and not interested in me at all.

Mr.Optium continued assigning people to their seats and surprisingly Joey started talking to me.

"Hi, um, I'm Joey" he said smiling

"I'm Shane" I replied smiling back

"I'm new here, not really sure how things work around here haha" he said

"Nah don't worry" I tried sounding as nice as i could, "nothing too intimidating in this school"

"Okay, cool" he replied smiling

I don't know why, but he was very friendly, a little too friendly, he kept showing me attention and after all he was the first person to initiate the conversation. If I wasn't so attracted to him it would've been way easier for me to talk to him, but I didn't want to freak him out or make him think I liked him. 

After a few minutes he showed me his schedule trying to continue the conversation,

"Well what do you know, we have math together as well!" I said excitedly, a little too excitedly...dammit Shane.

"Wow! Great!" He replied smiling. 

Eventually first period came to and end, and I got my stuff and began to walk to my next period class. 

"I'll see you in math!" Joey said from behind me

"Yeah, see you then!" I replied.

Only until then, I would get to see him. I was so excited. Was I falling for Joey? No...even if I was, he's not interested, and probably not gay. Just relax Shane, just relax...
