Donnie and Raph walked along the pavement, keeping to the shadows as to stay relatively hidden.
"Well, seeing as your on our side you might as well hear the plan." Raph began, looking straight ahead.
"What plan?" Donnie shuffled along, moving to walk next to his brother on the narrow road.

"Well for years the Rebellion has been ambushing trains carrying mutants to other countries. We've taken in those willing to fight for our cause, and have provided homes in deserted areas of the country for the orphans we find. Well a couple years ago we decided upon stepping up the game, creating an impact on TCRI rather than simply foiling their plans."  Raph looks at the ground before shifting his gaze towards Donnie as he spoke.

"We've made plans to strike at the heart of TCRI. One of our own who possesses shapeshifting abilitys has cloned one of the soldiers, giving him a place in the main plant in which they kill mutants. We've recently figured out how to merge explosives with limestone, so we can disguise them as weapons. Right now I'm waiting to meet the guy who's gonna supply enough explosives to blow up the entire plant...this could be the end of TCRI."
Donnie stared at him in horror.
"But...all those people...you'll kill them all..."
Raph shook his head quickly, eyes wide.
"No, no...we're gonna find a way to evacuate all mutants. Only TCRI will perish."
This statement however did not distinguish the flames bubbling in Donnie's stomach.
"They're still people Raph. You can't kill them."

Raph then stopped walking, turning sharply to glare at his brother.
"I can and I will." He growled. "They killed my brother Donnie. Our brother. Those people murdered Leo." With that he continued along the path, fists clenched.
"Besides." He spat. "How else will we end this mess."
"No..." Donnie shook his head in denial, allowing his brother to walk into the distance. "That's not what Leo would've wanted...or Mikey...Leo would've given them a chance."
Raph sudden spun around, shoving Donnie against the wall.
"YOU WEREN'T THERE DONNIE." He smashed his fist against the brick, tears in his eyes. "You didn't see the way he looked at me...he was scared...HE WAS JUST A KID!"
Donnie stared at his brother, eyes softening.
"I know Raph. But that doesn't make it right to take someone else's life."

"You." A voice murmured from behind them. Donnie and Raph both turned to see the same lady that'd interferes with them earlier. The same red haired woman who'd helped destroy their home.
She took off before either of them could say anything. The two exchanged a look before following, calling after her.
"IT'S YOU FAULT! WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOU LADY!" Donnie yelled, keeping close to the wall. They slipped through the gates of an estate, following her past a row of house.
Raph was just about to tackle her when she made a sharp turn to a house, unlocking the door, slamming it behind her. Donnie rammed on it incessantly, muttering to himself all the while.

Just as they began discussing whether or not they should bother kicking the door down, it was flung, revealing a boy around their age, though a little shorter. He had wild blonde hair and bright baby blue eyes. The three remained silent, staring intensely at each other, shock softening their features.
"M-Mikey?" Donnie stepped forward, look the boy closely in the eyes.
"No way..." He murmured, leaning towards Donnie and Raph. "I never thought I'd see you dudes again." Seconds later, Donnie and Raph found themselves envelope in Mikey's embrace, pressing in further, lapping up the feel of being returned to their missing brother.
Tears soaked Mikey's shirt as he pulled away, gesturing for them to come in.
"Hey April!" He called, and to Donnie and Raph's disgust, the woman they'd chased answered. "She stumbled back at the sight of them, stepping back into the living room.

Mikey took a set on the couch, beckoning them over to join him.
"Alright Mikey you've got a lot of explaining to do. How are you living in a human estate? Where have you been? And why are you with this woman?" Donnie demanded, whipping his previous tears.
Mikey leaned back on the sofa, fiddling slightly. "Well it's a complicated story. You see, the woman who'd asked me to display my powers back on that night, was already having second thoughts about he position. She hated being the one to send people off to die. I guess she must've seen something in me 'cus she offered to take me to her home when I realised none of you guys would be with me." He paused, briefly glancing at a picture on the shelf. Donnie followed his glance, staring at a picture of a woman, the same woman that's decided their fates.
"She adopted me, gave me a place to stay, and got me into a school. She got a job as the head to ensure I got in without getting tested." Mikey sighed, referring to the test in with school kids got prodded with slates of limestone to see if they were mutants.
"I guess you can say I've been living as a human." He shrugged.
Donnie and Raph stared at him, stunned. Their whole lives they'd had to hide who they were, fearing for their lives while Mikey lived among those who discriminated against them.
"This is April." Mike nodded to the red haired woman. "She a friend of mine who needed a place to stay."
"Oh really." Donnie snapped. "Well this friend of yours destroyed our old home."
Mikey did not react the way either had excepted, merely shrugging, looking at April.
"Well it's not our home anymore guys."
Donnie glared dangerously at him. "How can you say that? That was the only remaining memory of our time spent with Leo and father-"
"Yeah Well Father's gone and Leo's dead. Isn't he." Mikey spat. Donnie had never seen his like this, pain writhing in his eyes as sunk back into the couch. "The lady who took me in told me everything."

"You know, for brothers who have just found each other after many years, you guys argue a lot." April interrupted, eyeing Donnie and Raph doubtfully.
"It's 'cus Leo was our glue." Raph admitted after a moment. "He held us together, calmed us down, reassured us. And when the glues drys, the pieces fall apart..."

Nothing more was discussed that night. Raph and Donnie camped out of the sofas, relishing the warmth of the house.
What they didn't didn't know was that the little war between them was not the only war beginning.
