Chapter 1
As Lucy stared at the piece of plastic and her phone, she was trying to hold back the tears. The words "this is over! You were nothing but a bet... Don't speak to me ever again!" and the object in front of her were rushing through her head and eventually they mixed together, no longer making any sense to her. The text was off of her boyfriend... well rather her ex-boyfriend who didn't even have the courage or the decency to finish her to her face but rather took the cowards way out and finished her over text. It seemed about right now she thought about it, it makes perfect sense... however the whole situation didn't make perfect sense because if it did this probably wouldn't be happening, she wouldn't have been finished over text and she certainly wouldn't be looking at the piece of plastic in front of her.
She looked up and caught sight of herself in her mirror, she didn't realise that she had allowed the tears to fall down her face, she wiped the tears from her cheeks causing her mascara to smudge. She now looked like sad panda but she didn't care, she was too hurt, too confused and too insulted to care. She found her eyes wandering back to the piece of plastic and allowed more tears to run down her face, this is just what she needed and at a time like this, just when she is about to go in to her senior year.
She heard footsteps coming down the hall, quickly grabbing the evidence and shoved it under her pillow. If she was right it would be her brother and she didn't need him to find out, not yet anyway. There was a knock on her door followed by "Lu, you in there?" she wiped her face and tried to sound strong with her reply "yeah" she said however it came out in more of a whimper. Her door slowly opened to reveal her brother, he looked at her and gave her a sad smile "Lu, what happened?" he said as he walked over to her "it's nothing" she said trying to hold back more tears, her brother sat on her bed and pulled her into a hug "I know you better than anyone out there, what's happened?" he said more strongly this time, he reached over for her make-up wipes on her bedside table before handing one to her, Lucy wiped her make-up off, or what was left of it "of course you know me better than anyone out there, you're my twin brother and honestly it's nothing Luke" she said as she put the wipe down, Lucas pulled away from her and glared at her "what did that bastard do to you?" he said in an angry tone. Lucy looked at her brother and began to cry again, her brother knew her far too well to keep any secrets from him, she picked up her phone and handed it to him, Lucas looked at text and the colour drained from his face, if he had been a cartoon character Lucy was pretty sure he would have had steam blowing out of his ears as his face became red.
Lucas sat there for a minute and stared at the screen, "I will kill him" was all he said but it was that low Lucy couldn't hear him, however before she got a chance to ask him what he said, he repeated himself "I will kill him" he said louder, dropping Lucy's phone on to her bed "I will get my hands around that bastard's throat and kill him" Lucas stood up and made his way out of Lucy's room. Knowing full well where he was going, Lucy jumped off her bed, grabbing her phone and ran after him. She stopped to grab a pair of shoes before leaving the room. Lucas had made his way downstairs and out the front door, by the time Lucy had caught up with him he was already getting into his car. Luckily their door was self-locking so she didn't need to bother with locking it. Lucy jumped in her brother's car just in time before he sped off down their drive way. The automatic gates opened just in time for her brother to do 40 out of the driveway before closing again after the exiting car. Lucy pulled her shoes on before looking at the brother "Luke, please just leave it okay, I'm not bothered" she said trying to calm him down but she could see how tense her brother was by the grip he had on the steering wheel, he made no movement to acknowledge her words, only moving to change from 4th to 5th.
