Chapter 10
No-one knew how to act with Lucy for the rest of the weekend; on Sunday Lucy attended her dance classes like always and acted as though nothing had happened. With the exception of for the few hours Lucy spent dancing she would either lock herself in her room and cried or she would wonder around the house acting as though everything was normal. Although it had barely been 24 hour since everything happened, Lucas was worried for his sister; he didn’t know what to say to her or how to act around her. Although Lucy tended to stay calm and level head at the best of time Lucas wouldn’t have blamed her if she had a breakdown. But she didn’t. She just acted like everything was normal. She acted as though she hadn’t just found out she was going to be a mother.
It was now Monday morning and the twins were ready to start school again, ready for the Easter semester. “Lucy, come on!” Lucas shouted as he stood at the bottom of the stairs “we need to leave” he said as he looked at his phone. He could hear Lucy rummaging around upstairs no doubt looking for the shoe which was near the front door “I can’t find my pink converse” she shouted as she throw something “it’s at the front door” Lucas shouted without looking up from his phone.
Lucy ran down the stairs with one converse on and her bag in her hand. Dropping her bag Lucy picked her converse up and put it on her left foot “can we go now” Lucas asked as he grabbed his bag and flung it over his shoulder “we can go” Lucy said as she placed her bag on her right shoulder. Once in the car Lucas looked at his sister. He knew he shouldn’t have asked but he was worried. Lucy looked at him “I want to go” she said as if reading her brothers mind “I'm not going to break down when I see him” she continued calmly. Lucas sighed knowing that he wasn’t going to change his sister’s mind; nothing else was said between the twins for the rest of the journey.
Once at school, Lucy jumped out of the car before Lucas even had chance to apply the brakes and stop the car “I’ll see you later” she called over her shoulder as she ran into school. Usually on a morning, Lucy would look for Mia and Eve before class started and they would sit and talk about idol things like the events of their weekend programs or they would plan to go shopping on Saturday but this time she didn’t, she just walked to her locker instead. On her way to her locker she could feel people staring at her. The second she walked past, they would stop their conversations before looking and pointing at her and then whispering to their friend. She had no doubt that the people of Riverbank High would already know about her and Tyler’s break up. She wouldn’t be surprised if they knew about the pregnancy. Lucy just carried on walking until she reached her locker however she could still feel people were staring at her but she didn’t care. She could also hear the whispers of the students around her
Is it true her and Tyler broke up
I heard that she was just a bet to him
Her brother and Adrian punched him
I saw the whole thing, she was screaming at him in the park
I saw her brother punch him
Is there something between her and Adrian… he’s not even related to her and HE punched Tyler too
The students of Riverbank whispered to one another whilst they looked at Lucy. Taking deep breathes Lucy tried to block everything out; all the whispers and all the pointing. However before Lucy had chance to block it out she could sense someone next to her. Looking to her left she saw Adrian leaning again his locker, she smiled at him and he returned it with a sad smiled “should you be in school, you know, after…” he said, leaving the sentence hanging. Lucy looked at him “I am not a child Adrian. I can cope” was all she said as she closed her locker door. Adrian looked at her sceptically but he knew better than to argue with her so he just nodded.
