Max's Point of View

✎✎✎✎✎

I've been at Lord Hill all day waiting for Shelby. She always shows up early or late never on time, so I thought it would be easier to just spend my day here.
I walked around the park, took some pictures of the trees and flowers. I hung out with some dogs, even though their owners gave me death glares.
It was currently 3:30. Shelby is supposed to meet me here at four.
I wandered around for a little longer, then headed to the front of the park and sat on one of the benches near the entrance.
I saw Shelby start to walk over towards me. I started to grow nervous while the back of my neck started to sweat.

"Hey, Max," Shelby said sweetly

"Uh, hey Shelby" she seemed really confident unlike me. I was a nervous wreck.

"Uh, so what did you want to talk about?"

"Honestly, our relationship and friendship and just everything that's been going on"

"O...Okay"
Shelby started to sit next to me on the bench but I stood up way to quick and startled her.
"Can we actually walk around, and talk?"

"Yeah, sure"

We began to walk around the park. The whole walking around thing reminded me of when we went hiking on the camping date, trip, thing. Shelby was the first one to speak up.

"So..."

"Yeah," I chuckled nervously keeping my eyes trained on the ground. "Should I start?"

"Please?" Shelby looked at me with pleading eyes.
We stopped walking. And stood underneath the trees for a few minutes.

"Okay," I took a deep breath preparing for what I was about to say.
"I...I love you, but... I don't think I can do this," I motioned between the both of us.

I looked at Shelby's face. Her look screamed sadness and terror, but she tried to keep it buried.

"Max, I...we...can I know why?"

I started to feel really bad for doing this, but I had to. Right? I mean that guy said she cheated on me. And we didn't have an actual conversation for a whole two weeks. And she was about to move without telling me.

"It's just that I feel like you've kept so many secrets from me. And I feel like I can't trust you."

"We can change that. A week. That's all we need. In a week you'll know everything about. Please...please don't do this."

"I don't know Shelbs. I think that we should just end it here and now. Before anything else happens."

I was close enough to see that tears started to roll down her cheeks. I felt terrible. I regretted the decision I just made. I wanted to take it back but it was too late.

"Okay, well I guess I'll see you around then, um...bye."

Shelbys Point of View

"Okay, well I guess I'll see you around then, um...bye."

I started running. I don't know why or where. I just had to get out of the park before everyone there saw me cry. I had my eyes focused on the ground and looked up every other second making sure I wasn't going to run into a tree.
I heard Max calling my name. Telling me to stop.

But the last thing I heard was "Shelby look out!" And then everything was black.

A/N

I've never actually been to Lord Hill Park so I have no idea what kind of park it is or if it even has benches so you'll just have to imagine it.

Have a good day! :)
