A/n: So I know that Philip was 19 when he was shot but I aged him up for this imagine. He's 22 when the duel happens in this one. This imagine is kinda sad.

Au: Hamiltime

~~~
Your husband, Philip, came home later this evening than usual. You sat in your house with your 1 year old daughter, Eliza, when you heard the door open and Philip stormed in.
You rushed to the hallway to see what was going on.
"Philip, what's wrong?"
He was livid, you could tell that by just looking at him. He didn't reply and just kept making "angry" noises.
Eventually, he confessed to you that he had a duel in the morning against George Eacker.
"Are you insane?!" You screamed at him when he admitted what was going on. "You could die!"
You and him fought for ages, yelling at him to just back out and he was telling you about his "honour" or some crap.
When you realised that he was not backing down, you left the room and put Eliza to bed. You then went to bed.
While you lay there, you promised that if Philip was going to go to the duel tomorrow, you would be there too. You didn't think he would die, but there was a risk.
You quickly fell asleep.
The next morning you awoke early. You rowed across the river to New Jersey with Philip and the others.
You could not look at Philip the whole journey and he didn't even glance at you. You hadn't talked since you had fought yesterday so this was understandable.
Philip and George stood opposite each other when the countdown began. You stood to the side.
You saw the bullet as it came out of George's gun, almost in slow motion. Philip stood with his gun in the air and you realised he would die if you did not do something quickly.
So you thought fast, and jumped in between the bullet and Philip.
It hit you in the stomach. You were clever enough to know you would not live to see any other day. Not get to grow old with Philip. Not get to see your daughter grow up.
Before you slipped out of consciousness, you heard one voice scream over all the others.
"Y/n!"
It was Philip.
•••
Philip held Eliza tightly in his arms as he stared down at your grave.
His mother came over and took Eliza back to her house, because she knew Philip probably wanted to be alone.
When she left, tears streamed down Philips face.
He fell into his knees. It was all his fault.
He suddenly reached into his pocket and felt a piece of paper. He pulled it out and read it.
"Have a good day at work, Philip! Eliza and I will be waiting for you when you get home, as I have some exciting news! Love you with all my heart, Y/n"
It was dated from the day before the duel. Why did he have to challenge George to a duel? Philip cried more, as he knew he might have been able to save you.
