After school you sprinted home, somehow not running out of breath. When you ran inside, you went straight to your room and started cleaning as fast as you could. You saw your guitar leaning on its stand, ready for play. It was beautiful, with a tri-tone sunburst brown finish. Soon, there was a knock on the door, and you walked out of your room and opened it.

"Hey!" you exclaimed happily as you saw Leon.

"Hey, nice place," Leon said, momentarily flicking his eyes around, before returning to you.

"Let's go into my room. I have everything set up," you said. You lead him to your room, and closed the door.

"I can't thank you enough," Leon smiled.

"Oh, you don't have to," you replied, feeling yourself blush. You walked over to the guitar and picked it up. "Let's start with a simple scale." You strum the strings to a D scale, and then Leon sings.

You were surprised. His voice was soft and in tune. He hummed the scale with ease.

"Wow," you murmured in awe. Leon turned slightly pink.

"Did I sound good?" he asked, pulling a small smirk.

"Yeah," you replied. "How about we go through a few minor and chromatic scales and then we try out some songs?"

"Sure," You both practiced for the next hour just doing scales and ended by playing a Nirvana song. You tried to fit Leon's voice into music, and you knew you'd be able to make songs to his liking.

"Hey, wanna play some baseball?" asked Leon. You felt shocked.

"Didn't you say you wanted to be a musician and not a baseball player?" you questioned.

"Yeah, but I kind of miss baseball. I always played it with my cousin when I was little," Leon explained, looking off into space as he seemed to be remembering old memories. "My cousin was my baseball manager. When we were kids she was apparently in love with me." You felt your smile fall. In love?

"Oh really?" you quickly forced a smile.

"Well we aren't soulmates," Leon replied. "I guess that's a good thing. She's always been like a sister to me. Have you found your soulmate yet?"

"No, I haven't gotten my tattoo yet," you replied. "What about you?" Leon instantly started messing around with his sleeve.

"I haven't but I think it's Maizono," Your heart dropped. "Just because of what it is."

"Can I see?" you asked. Leon shook his head quickly, looking nervous.

"I- uh- don't want to show anyone until I'm sure I found my soulmate," Leon replied. You nodded.

"I understand," you sighed. "Let's go play baseball." You went outside and Leon actually already had his bat and ball, somehow. They were probably in his bag.

"Do you know how to pitch?" Leon asked.

"Of course, I used to play softball!" you exclaimed excitedly. You haven't played in years, but it used to be your favorite sport. Leon handed you the ball, and stood a distance far enough away so you could throw it properly. You whipped your arm in a circle before throwing it, the normal softball serve. Leon hit the ball, and the ball flew across the yard, but luckily hit your fence.

"Damn it, that was a bad hit!" Leon scolded to himself, hitting his head with his palm.

"Nah, I think I messed up my throw," you assured. He looked over and smiled at you, putting his bat on his shoulder, ready to play. You kept pitching and him hitting. Thank goodness Leon had multiple balls, because many flew too far out of the yard to get. Thankfully none broke anything. Soon, it was sunset and Leon said his goodbyes and went home.

When the door closed behind Leon, your heart pounded. What was this feeling and why were you feeling it? It seemed right and wrong. Was this what was called a crush? You couldn't have one. You were going to be assigned your soulmate in a few short days. It wouldn't be right. Leon's soulmate was probably Maizono like he thought. Maybe you're just overthinking this.

Six days left.
