Chapter Thirteen - Misunderstanding

Funny. No tears were coming out of your eyes. All you felt was rage. You walked up to Leon, who had shot off of Sayaka and was staring at you.

"Let me explain," he said. You saw Enoshima laughing in the background. "It was-"

"Hahaha! I told you Leon wouldn't stop his womanizing nature," Enoshima cackled.

"If you would let me-" Leon glared at Enoshima as she interrupted again.

"I knew this was going to happen, and since I'm such a nice person I tried to warn you," Enoshima said.

"(y/n), Enoshima p-" Sayaka started, but was interrupted by Enoshima.

"Are you going to listen to the slut?" asked Enoshima. "She is a pop idol. Of course she would go for the Baseball Star, even if she had a soulmate. It's a way to boost her popularity!" You were at a loss for words.

"Leon, I can't believe you..." you muttered.

"But I-" You were about to turn heel and run. Soulmate or not, you were angry. What Junko Enoshima told you earlier was true. He wouldn't stop just because he found his soulmate. You decided to take a deep breath and just walked. Nobody called after you. You didn't know what you were going to do. He was your soulmate and he already betrayed your trust. What was this, some cliche romance novel? And in the end, you were going to be back with him? That probably would be the case but right now you were pissed off.

You sighed and went through the rest of your classes, trying to pay attention as best as you could, but failing.

You decided to walk home since you didn't want to be around Leon at the moment. As you started to leave, you heard light footsteps behind you.

"(y/n)!" called a soft voice. You turned around to see the beautiful blue-haired pop star known as Sayaka Maizono. You narrowed your eyes.

"What is it, Sayaka?" you hissed, biting back every insult you could throw at her. She looked down at the ground and then into your eyes apologetically.

"I-I didn't kiss Leon on purpose," she said.

"Oh, I never knew you could kiss someone on accident!" you replied sarcastically. She winced.

"It's true!" Sayaka insisted. "Please, let me explain. This was Junko's doing. I got a note in my homeroom class from someone saying to meet them at the area where you found us. Leon got the same note and we both were confused as neither of us wrote then, then Junko snuck up behind Leon and shoved him so he fell on me, right as you appeared." You took a moment to process this.

"I'm sorry for assuming things," you sighed.

"It's alright," Sayaka replied. She smiled at you. "I was hoping we could be friends." You nodded.

"Thank you, but why didn't Leon tell me this himself?" you asked. Sayaka shrugged.

"Well, he was frightened after that and I really haven't seen him the rest of the day," Sayaka replied. "I was going to tell him to talk to you but I knew I had to set things right if he wasn't going to." She gave you a small smile. "Everything will turn out alright, I'm sure of it." You nodded. She then saw a car pull up and blushed, saying it was her soulmate. You swore you saw Makoto's hair as she opened the door. You sighed and felt really bad. Maybe you should have stayed behind and listened to Leon. You pulled your hood over your head as a particularly cold breeze blew across the campus. You walked home.
