Thankfully, I make it out of the house without coming across any of my family. As I am going down the steps I hear the chirp of my phone. I already know it will be considering she is my only friend. When I look at my phone Abs' name comes up asking me to come to the skate park. I reply as I walk down the street that I'll be there in a few minutes. I then start to skate down the road. Skating is one of the best feelings because of the wind in my face and the speed in which I can go.
It only takes me a few minutes to get to the park from my house. Abs immediately sees me and comes running to greet me. "Hey, Liam!" She says once she gets to me. She has a smile on her petite face as her long black hair is getting in her face due to the wind.
"Hey, Abs," I say before we go over to the ramps to skate. We skate for awhile before going to sit on a bench in the park. We sit there in silence for a few minutes. Out of nowhere Abs puts her hand on my knee and looks at me.
"Aim are you okay?" I look back at her with a sad look in my eyes.
"Just sad is all. I don't understand my family." She hits me on the leg before saying, "You need to just freaking ask them why they act like that already. It's obviously affecting you a lot and why not ask?" She knows this is a touchy subject for me and I am getting extremely angry about it.
"Oh wow thanks, I never thought of that!" I say with clenched fists and an elevated voice. At this point, I've had enough. I get up, grab my skateboard, and walk away. She may be a friend but she has no idea how bad it is and how much I've tried to figure out why. I would love for it to be as simple as asking why they treated me like trash but it isn't. I've tried! All it ended up doing was making me depressed and leaving me with the feeling my family hates me even more than I could possibly think.
Once I get to the street, I lay my skateboard down and I take off in the opposite direction of my house. There was no way I was going back there just to be treated like shit when already feeling down. After a few moments, I am going extremely fast down the street not paying attention to my surroundings. In my peripheral vision, I notice a semi-truck barreling down the street I am going to cross. This is when I realize I am going too fast to stop. I try to turn but I don't have enough time. One second the truck is a few feet away the next its grill is in my face.
