After eating three huge steaks, I was satisfied. The whole time I was in a strange euphoric state in which I was now coming down from. With my breathing heavy I say, "That was the best thing I've ever eaten."
"Yea, it's pretty great isn't it!?" Nathan stated with the enthusiasm that only a pre-teen could possess. He also had a huge ass grin on his face.
With that the group fell silent and I fell into my own thoughts. "So, when did you guys first find out you were a dragon shifter?" I ask with hesitancy.
"I would like to speak for all of us in saying we kind of just knew. There were strange hints such as our sense of smell and our strength. Once mom and dad noticed, they gradually introduced into this world.," Emily sighed and continued. "When it came to turning for the first time , there was this pressure that just kept building over a few days. Mom and dad could tell and brought us out here so we had privacy and protect the humans from us." I lift a questioning eyebrow at that statement.
Jake chimed in to say, "You see, typically the first change is the hardest. You're mind and body are fighting for control and it can be very dangerous to be around."
I saw some movement at my side. When I turned my head, I found Nathan there with a sheepish grin. "Yea, I kinda set the forest on fire two years ago on my first turn."
I looked at him in shock, "that was you?" I point at him with a clawed index finger.
His hand went behind his head and he looked towards the ground, "mom says my fire is some of the most powerful she has seen in awhile".
We then fell into a silence until Jake exclaimed, "we should go outside and show him what a real dragon looks like!"
