"She really believes he loves her, doesn't she?" Nathan waves with the last letter we both read that Emma send Finnley. "She's nuts."
"Nuts?" I cock a brow, snatching the letter from his hand. "Nuts? That's all you can say about her? She's a freak, a psycho, crazy, a lunatic."
"Well, if you ask me, with what little experience I have in becoming a psychiatrist, Emma really seems delusional and I wonder if there's an explanation for her odd behaviour. What if she's suffering from a mental illness that causes her to really believes what she's claiming?"
Leave it up to Nathan to try and make her sound more human. "Mental Illness or not, I'm sick and tired of the way she's claiming his love and to belong by his side. I might actually get sick." I mutter, putting the letter back in the envelope. "I feel sick."
Nathan simply chuckles and nods. "I'm used to hearing about crazy stuff, so forgive me I'm not completely surprised. My only question is whyshe started behaving like this. Judging by the things I knew about her, coming from you or Finn, she sounded like a normal teenaged girl."
"Until she started paying shitheads to hurt Finn," I deadpan, trying to remind him of the fact Emma is the whole reason Jeff abducted Finnley in the first place. He might have been watching him longer than that, Emma gave him an excuse and a person to blame this on. "She lost all contact with reality."
"On one hand, that would be an argument to support my point of a possible mental illness. On the other side, even though she did indeed come across as crazy, she still knows more than enough reality."
Cocking my head sideways a bit and pulling up an eyebrow is enough to get an explanation.
"She still remembers details about Finn."
"Like?"
"Tennyson was one of Finn's favourites, the fact he was indeed rebelling against everything his parents stood for just for the sake of fucking with them. How he had some minor feelings for her that he acted upon when he was struggling with his sexuality..."
"...Who the fuck is Tennyson and are you telling me you Finn actually had feelings for her? Did he actually like her?"
"The poem is written by Tennyson, Finn had to read it for literature in the same time he and Emma went on a couple of dates."
"But did he like her?"
"It's been a while, so I don't know exactly what he said about it, but I believe if he had to pick a girl, it'd be a girl like Emma. But don't worry about that because he accepted being gay even before he came out to his parents. If any, dating Emma made him realize he really didn't like girls."
"But... Emma? Now I really feel sick."
"You called her your and Finn's best friend for a long time, Cris." Nathan chuckled. "I don't think she will ever stand a chance after what she did."
