I'm heading towards the supermarket to get Nathan and me some food for tonight. When I left home the sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the cities wet streets after today's downpours. The cool summer breeze making place for a much colder winter cold that is sending shivers through me even though I'm already wearing my winter jacket.

I should have worn a hat. By now I know both bright lights and freezing cold gushing wind causes headaches ever since I got that concussion a year and a half ago.

With my hands propped deeply in my pockets and half my face stuck deep down in my coats collar I hurriedly run across the street and into the welcome warmth of the supermarket. With a list in my hand I grab some essential stuff Nathan asked me to pick up for dinner, before ending in the isle with cookies, chips and snacks, deciding on taking a couple of chocolate chip cookies and a bag of chips for during our regular Wednesday night movie night.

After grabbing drinks, silently cursing all slow and annoying people spearing me the way and ruining my chances of getting home before the next downpour, I make my way to the register. All the while mumbling profanities to myself for not taking an umbrella with me. I scan the lines to decide which register is probably quickest, deciding on one in the back that always has shorter lines because apparently people over here are too lazy to walk a few extra meters.

I impatiently tap my foot, waiting for my turn, greeting the girl in front of me half-heartedly, because recently I simply lack the energy to feign happiness or kindness towards anyone or anything.
Right after I entered my pin code, I stare around me like I always do, noticing an all too familiar blonde-haired guy making his way to the exit.

'Finn!" I call out, throwing the groceries inside my backpack randomly before running after him. Did he really not hear me call, or is he still avoiding me?

I haven't spoken to him ever since Eli's party and Ahmed's arrest and I miss him. I decided about a week ago that whenever I'd see him again, I would try and mend our instable friendship. Because my life felt better with him in it as a distant friend, compared to the way it feels without him in it at all.

Once I'm outside I scan the surroundings, noticing him walking away from me in opposite direction I need to go. I haven't seen him around in days, I haven't spoken to him in weeks; and damn I miss him so much.

I send a text to let Nathan I'll be home later, not mentioning why, but at least informing him why I'll be out a little while longer.

I run after Finnley, catching up two blocks later. By now I'm soaking wet because of the pouring rain that's causing little streams of water on the sidewalks and streets.

'Finn, it's me." I grabbed hold of his wrist, spinning him around to look at me. 'Didn't you hear me call?"

'Hi Cris." his smile is awkward and uncomfortable. 'Thought you were still mad. Didn't feel like fighting."
