how to: prevent chapped lips:
—
never ever lick your lips:
As gross as it may sound, saliva contains digestive enzymes which are molecules that help break down food. By licking your lips the saliva breaks the layers of skin down
—
drink lots of water! Sometimes lips dry out because thy are dehydrated
—
eat fruits and vegetables, so your body can get more nutrients
—
use moisturizing lip products on a daily basis, you could use a moisturizing lipstick in your makeup routine, apply your favourite lip balm under your lipstick/lip product, or just apply some every morning or night
—
how to treat them:
exfoliate:
There's two main ways I found online. One is to exfoliate gently using your fingers with a home made or store bought lip exfoliant. The Second is to apply some vaseline to your lips then take a toothbrush you won't use after and gently rub your lips with it. After you exfoliate rinse your lips with water and pat dry (never rub)
—
⛄️apply lip balm multiple times a day (3-6) , some lip balms actually dry your lips out and irritate them so choose one that isn't heavily coloured or scented that isn't from the makeup section of the drugstore. My favourites are blistex, burt's bees and the "summer fruit" and "sweet mint" flavoured eos (for some reason the other flavours do nothing for my lips)
—
apply vasline to your lips before you go to sleep, I absolutely hate the thick texture of vaseline but it really works
—
don't wear lipstick, lip gloss or any coloured lip products. Not only will it look bad, but it will also dry out your lips more
