After School

Aubrie's P.O.V. (Friday Afternoon)

I hadn't seen Cory since our conversation earlier.

Usually when I tell him I'm done, I end up right back at his house the next day acting like nothing ever happened. The crazy part was that as much as I felt like I needed him, he needed me too. Whether he wanted to admit it or not.

"Aye!"

Ant's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Huh?"

"You good?" he asked. "You've been acting weird all day."

"I'm fine."

"You don't look fine."

I looked away before he could see my eyes watering.

"I said I'm fine."

Ant studied me for a few seconds before sighing.

"Alright then."

He slowly backed away and headed toward the bus.
Normally he'd ride home with me since we lived right next door to each other. Sometimes he'd even come over and hang out with Brie and me.

Speaking of Brie...

Where was she? I pulled out my phone and called her.

Phone Call

"Hello?" she answered quietly.

"Why are you whispering?" I asked. "And where are you?"

"I'm at the library with Jamia."

"The library?"

"Yeah. We have a project together, and it's due soon. We're probably gonna be working on it this weekend. Jamia's mom is bringing us to your apartment later.

"Okay."

"We should be there in a couple of hours."

"Alright. I'm headed home now."

"Okay. Love you."

"Love you too."

The call ended and I let out a long sigh. The second I looked up, I saw Kya walking toward me. I couldn't help but laugh. She walked exactly like her sister.

"What?" she asked. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing."

"No, seriously."

I shook my head.

"What do you want, Kya?"

She crossed her arms.

"Damn. Somebody's in a mood."

"I'm not."

"Yes you are."
