Maybe not dy/dx, or cellular structure analysis, or bremsstrahlung radiation. No weighted averages, and timed multiple choice questions. No institutional certificates, and professionally formatted résumés. No sprints to try the muscles, and marathons to check cardiovascular endurance. No push ups to justify upper body strength. No panel of judges to remark on rehearsed performances. No scale to weigh and examine a life. No SI unit for perfection, and definitely no single theory on living.
We don't owe anyone an explanation for what we do or fail to do, not even ourselves. But is the unexamined life worth living? We are not to live in such a way hoping to justify our actions to the masses. Because sometimes the masses are filled with individuals who make the "m" silent. But it doesn't mean we should leave our thoughts, words and actions uncontrolled. We never know when the day we fear as our last will come around and usher into the beginning of an eternity where we would ask ourselves what we did rightly, or wrongly. Although it wouldn't matter anymore. We owe no individual or institution a score report on the three constants of living: uncertainty, love and truth.
No matter what you choose to do with your life, always remember it is worth living only when cross examined with uncertainty, love and truth.
