Chaeyoung POV
Two hours passed. It was almost dark. There was no light in the office. I waited for the right moment to finally strike. I tried pushing myself forwards while I was sitting in the chair. I reached his desk and tried to lean my body forwards as well. It took me a while, but I had to be careful and not make any noise. The idiot had turned off his security camera. I could barely see anything, so I had to use my face to feel around. I slid my face through his desk until I suddenly felt a sharp thing that made a small cut underneath my mouth. It was the knife. I grabbed the knife with my mouth and tried to open up the handcuffs with it. I tried to make it fit in the keyhole, so I could unlock it. After many tries and cuts around my wrists, I finally unlocked the handcuffs.
I stumbled on the ground as soon as I was free. I decided to pick up the knife and keep it. I walked silently to the window. Argh, I can't jump from here. But I noticed there was an open window a little under the window I was looking out from. I tried to sneak out of the office. I looked around and noticed a couple of security guards walking around the hall I was in. They all had guns, so I had to be careful. I hid and waited for a guard to pass by. When a few minutes passed, I caught a guard suddenly approaching the place I was hiding at. When he was close to me. I slightly stabbed his leg with the knife. He started screaming in pain and caught the other guards attention, which made them approach him. While they were busy helping the guy I stabbed, I had the chance to escape. It was really dark, so it was hard for them to see me.
I reached the end of the hallway which meant I only needed to go down the stairs and find the window to get out of here. But there was one problem. There were security guards near the stairs. I stood still for a while holding my breath while I was thinking for a solution. I threw the knife somewhere down to the first floor making a loud noise, which made the guards run away from the stairs and run after the sound instead. I used the chance to run down the stairs and approach the open window. When I was about to jump out, my eyes suddenly caught new security guards.
'Shit, they're outside'
I sighed and looked around in the dark, trying to find a new solution. I then took off one of my shoes and threw it at the big chandelier that wasn't turned on. I don't know how it happened, but it turns out I had thrown my shoe so hard that the chandelier broke and fell down in the middle of the hallway. I hurriedly hid in horror. It was loud enough for the guards outside to hear, so they immediately ran inside and approached the broken chandelier. I took the chance to jump out of the window and run away. I ran nonstop through the streets. I didn't want anyone to chase me, or find out I had escaped.
I started sweating so much and my body felt weak. I stopped running and leaned myself on a street pole while I was panting. It was really hard for me to escape and use these strategies, then run away with only one shoe. I wasn't the fastest student after all. When my heart finally calmed down, I realized I had reached the school without knowing it. I guess the company was not far away from the school then. It was really weird seeing the school at night. I passed by the garden and saw how beautiful it looked while it was reflecting the moonlight. Thoughts started flowing in. Thoughts about Mina. I remembered when I first visited that garden and saw Mina dancing there for the first time. How wonderful she looked, and up to this day now, how much she had actually changed. From dancing in that little garden of flowers, to win a competition and be able to perform globally. I let out a little smile even though my body was harmed. I was still warm on the inside thinking about her.
I decided to go back and rest. Should I visit Mina? No, it's too dangerous seeing her right now.
I walked home instead. I haven't seen Dahyun for a while. She was probably worried as hell now. When I entered the apartment building, I glanced at the clock and found out it was past midnight. I sighed and went to my room. I didn't even turn on the lights yet before I felt a punch on my shoulder.
"Ouch, what was that for?" I held my shoulder.
Then someone turned on the lights, and that someone was Dahyun. She sent me a worried glare.
"Pabo ya, what happened to you? I've been so worried. What the hell is wrong with your face?" she caressed my face in panic.
"I'll explain everything tomorrow, just, please. I'm really exhausted" I let out a sigh before washing my face and facing the bed.
I've never felt that tired in my life, and I was so glad I was home now. I've missed this place. Suddenly my stomach started to growl. Aishh I forgot to eat.
"Here" Dahyun laid a bowl of rice and meat beside me.
'When did she read minds?'
"Eat up and sleep, you can skip school tomorrow. You don't look well at all" Dahyun crossed her arms.
"Thank you unnie" I smiled.
She smiled back. I've really missed my old times with Dahyun. Ever since I've met Mina, everything got messed up, even though I liked her. But I didn't spend much time with Dahyun. Now I'm glad that I'm back, but Mina still worried me. I stopped eating and thought for a second.
Is Mina still safe?
