Katherine spending winter break with Draco he had asked her to join him despite his father's objections she met Mrs. Malfoy she seemed nice. Katherine on a tour with Draco of Malfoy Manor she said "This is quite huge almost like my great-grandfather's home in Bulgaria" he said "It must be quite nice there" she said "Maybe I could show it to you sometime" he said "Maybe". He stared into her eyes so genuine he leaned in and kissed her in that moment everything stood still no death, no agony as if their hearts were one he saw into her mind he said "You worry about if this moment could last forever?" she said "It's not just that, that's what I want the kind of love that makes you want to believe in destiny".

In the silence she realized she said love to Draco he looked at her he took her confession in when they were greeted by Mrs. Malfoy she said "Katherine dear, why don't you join me for some tea?" she said "Sure Mrs. Malfoy" she let go of Draco's hand and walked away. Katherine having tea with Mrs. Malfoy she said "Katherine telling me about yourself? Where does your loyalties lie?" Katherine knew this was her trying to get info out of her she said "My loyalties lie with the pure-bloods and Draco" she said "Good answer" she said "Mrs. Malfoy, I must ask you in confidence" she said "What dear?" she said "I worry for Draco, his studies seem lacking and I was wondering if after winter break that he would come back with me to Hogwarts?" she said "You do care for my son don't you?" she said "I do Mrs. Malfoy very much" she said "You seem to be the only girl Draco asked to come over" she said "I'm sure Pansy Parkinson has?" she said "I don't like her, she's like a lap dog following Draco around but you have so much potential and may fit in quite well". Draco spoke to his mother for a moment while Katherine went to bathroom he told her about Katherine let slip she loves him and he didn't know how to respond she said "You tell her the truth, what you feel believe me she's a remarkable girl and I like her she's good for you".
Katherine had used her wand conjured phoenix patronus she instructed it to find what's in the basement and report back to her when it can she walked back to Mrs. Malfoy while the phoenix patronus scour Malfoy Manor it went from room to room coming up nothing when it hid through the walls when someone came walking a scavenger no doubt. Katherine finishing up tea with Mrs. Malfoy when scavengers brought Harry, Ron, and Hermione in wanting compensation Katherine saw this she plagued Hermione's mind with her's she told her "remember what I told you at Bill & Fleur's wedding this is it" Katherine was able to tell Ron and Harry Hermione's conversation to trust her for she isn't the enemy but that didn't help matters given she was there. Katherine with Draco when Bellatrix appeared she wanted him to say it was Harry and to be in favor with Voldemort. Katherine trying to control her temper she was but her phoenix patronus found the others when Harry and Ron was put in there Luna said "Look a phoenix patronus" they saw it Harry remembered Katherine's patronus is a phoenix from when defeating Dementors to saving Sirius. He said "Katherine" Ron said "What? She looked like she was chummy with the Malfoys?" Luna said "The phoenix, the phoenix is working for the order and keeping tabs on everything" Harry spoke to the patronus he said "Can you help us?" it acknowledged him. Katherine holding Draco's hand he whispered in her ear allowing her to extinguish the flame from her hands she watched Hermione tortured by Bellatrix and she stood there couldn't help her without revealing her true loyalties but Wormtail/Peter Pettigrew saw Katherine he seemed really scared of her when he went back down to the others when Harry knocked him out Katherine's phoenix patronus summoned Dobby to save Luna and Mr. Olivander taking them to a safehouse outside of Tinsworth where Katherine's family was at Shell Cottage. Katherine watched Ron and Harry wand duel against the Malfoys but Bellatrix had Hermione as leverage Katherine looked up at Dobby she told him via legilimency to get the trio to safety by any means necessary he knocked chandelier onto the floor. Katherine ran to Draco in the scuffle when the fighting began again she held his hand shielding him from any magic blasts between Harry and Bellatrix then watched Dobby take the trio and goblin Griphook to Shell Cottage.
