Chapter 10: A Night To Remember

SHAWN'S P.O.V:
Avery's sweet perfume bombarded me as she leant to have a flick of the menu. I couldn't help but stare at her scarlet dress. Cameron caught my eye and winked at me. I shook my head and decided to distract myself.

"I'll be back in a minute," I said.

I walked to the tiled bar and asked for a glass of water. The bar maid passed me the glass and returned to her duties. I stayed leaning against the bar and took a sip of the transparent liquid. The sweet scent of Avery drifted to the bar. I swore under my breath and returned to where my friends were sitting. Cameron was standing and wrapping his dress coat over Kayleigh. Avery was also putting on her own jacket.

"We're leaving?" I asked.

Cameron's eyes twinkled, "Kayleigh and Avery had a good idea. We're going to the supermarket."

I didn't ask any more questions and followed the group out of the bar. We left our cars and decided the walk to the nearest supermarket. Cameron and Kayleigh skipped ahead leaving me alone with Avery.

"You look nice tonight," I coughed.

Her fingers twisted around a curl, "Thank you."

I half smiled and shoved my hands into my pocket.

"Nervous?" she asked.

I shrugged my shoulders, "Being around you tends to do that."

The streetlight flickered on her face showing her rosy cheeks.

"You seemed pretty confident before," she said. 

"That's because you weren't in a red dress," I mused.

She stayed silent for a few moments before she opened her glossed lips, "I'm walking down the street with a worldwide celebrity that has millions of fans and so is my bestfriend."

She laughed and shook her head in disbelief.

"It's really not that odd. I'm just a normal guy you know?"

"I know," she smiled.

We walked to the supermarket in a comfortable silence, trailing behind our friends.

When we arrived Kayleigh made us form in a huddle.

"We are going to split off into pairs. Grab any ten items you want," she ordered. 

I still had no idea what we were doing but Avery tugged my shirt. I followed her as she scanned the shelves. She tossed a brown package at me.

"Seaweed crisps?" I quizzed.

She continued to scan the isle and passed me another packet.

"A vanilla cake mix?" I questioned.

She waved me off and walked ahead to the dairy isle. She picked up a bottle of strawberry milk and passed it to me. I kept my mouth shut and rearranged the objects in my arms. I retrieved a basket from the front of the store and loaded the items into it. Avery handed more and more objects to me; crunchy peanut butter, red licorice, almond butter, rainbow popcorn, black berries, burger sauce and cooked shrimp.

"What are we doing?" I asked.

"While you were getting water Cameron was complaining about having to upload a video for his channel. I gave him an idea, I suppose you can gather an what my idea was," she answered.

I had no clue, but I nodded. We returned to the front of the store. Cameron and Kayleigh had their own strange mix of items. We purchased the products and left the store carrying plastic bags in our hands.

"Okay, so we will all meet at Shawn's place?" Kayleigh said.

"My place?" I exclaimed.

Cameron shot me an apologetic glance, "My filming stuff is there."

I sighed and put the carry on into my other hand.

We parked a block away from my apartment and walked with our bags bumping against our legs. A group of girls across the street sprinted towards us. Cameron and I stood ahead of our company. The group came to a halt in front of us panting.

"Hi! We were wondering if we could get a few photos with you guys?"

The girl who asked was short and fair, I would guess they were around fifteen. Cameron swooped in and we took turns hugging and taking pictures with each girls. The process took around ten minutes. The girls left in tears and smiles.

"Shall we?" Cameron declared.

Cameron arranged the camera and lighting poles around my kitchen. Apparently we were all going to do this trend on YouTube called the smoothie challenge. He stood in front of the camera and gave a thumbs up.

"We're all set!" He called.

Avery and Kayleigh hopped up from my lounge and walked to the kitchen, I joined them. The items were spread out among the counter top. We all stood around the bench. Cameron used his remote to start filming.

"Hey everyone, today we're doing something that's a huge trend on YouTube at the moment, the smoothie challenge. A lot of youtubers have done this recently. I will be joined my several special guests; our new friends Kayleigh and Avery. Shawn Mendes is also going to be hanging out with us."

I smiled at the camera. Cameron then discussed what exactly the challenge involved whilst we all stood awkwardly around him.

"So let's get this started guys! For the first smoothie we are going to be putting in; maple syrup, salt and vinegar potato chips, orange juice, canned peaches, sour straps and few other bits and bobs."

Kayleigh and Cameron loaded the items into my blender and pushed the glowing button. The drink changed to a sickening colour as the appliance came to a stop. We each took a turn of pouring it into our glasses. Cameron turned to the camera triumphantly and bravely took a sit. We all spectated with curiosity and were not at all surprised when the liquid came shorting out his mouth.

The video took a while to finish as we all had trouble not gagging at the drinks. When it had finally finished we all collapsed onto my sofa. Cameron whispered to Kayleigh, she turned pink.

"We will be back in a few moments," she giggled. He dragged her off towards the guest bedroom.

"Why don't we go get some air?" I asked.

Avery nodded and wordlessly walked out the front door.
