SHAWN'S P.O.V:
I raced backstage, sweat practically dripping off me. An assistant shoved a microphone into my sweaty palms an clapped me softly on the back.
"Okay Mendes, last song for tonight, then you'll be on your way home," he informed.
I nodded and took a deep breath before entering the stage, with the lighting dimmed I was hidden by my fans who were eagerly waiting for my last performance. I swung my guitar strap over my shoulder, and made my way to the front of the stage. Taking one last breath, I nodded towards the assistant, suddenly the lights filled the theatre, illuminating the crowd and myself. Thousands of screams and exclaims filled the air, I smiled and held my microphone up to my mouth.
"Guys, I have a sing along for you, who's ready?" I asked.
My reply was the sounds of screams, I grinned yet again.
The lights dimmed the crowd and moved towards me, I positioned my guitar comfortably, then placed my microphone on the stand.
"Woahhh, woah, woah, woahhhh, woah, woah, woahhhhhh, Can you guys sing that out for me?"
I looked up from my guitar to watch the crowd as they sang, I grinned and repeated the line once more, the crowd copying again. My finger pricked the guitar strings.
"I promise that one day I'll be around , I'll keep you safe I'll keep you sound. Right now it's pretty crazy and I don't know how to stop or slow it down, and hey I know there are some things we need to talk about, but I can't stay, so let me hold you for a little longer now. Sing it out!" I sang.
I stepped away from the microphone, letting the crowd sing the chorus as I strummed the guitar, I moved back in towards it.
"Incredible, keep on going. You'll never be alone, yeah. You'll never be alone, yeah. Woah, woah, woah, woahhhh. Sing it out! Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, woahhhh. You'll never be alone. When you miss me close your eyes, I may be far but never gone. When you fall asleep tonight just remember that we lay under the same stars. And hey I know there are some things we need to talk about, but I can't stay, so let me hold you for a little longer now. Sing!"
The voices filled the theatre, lights flashing over the crowd as they sang, some were smiling whilst other were crying. This was why I do what I do, making someone feel was one of the best feelings in the world. I let my guitar fall to my hip and I grabbed the steel cylinder.
"Woah, woah, woah, woahhhh. Everybody sing that one more time for me. Woah, woah, woah, woahhh. Woah, woahh, woah, woahhhh. I love you guys so much, thank you, thank you so much!"
Screams erupted from the crowd, I waved before exiting the stage. John, my security guard, leaned against the wall smirking at me.
"You have no idea how hard that is to walk away from. There was this one girl in the crowd, you should've seen the look in her eyes, it made everything seem worth it," I sighed.
John let out a chuckle, "You're a good kid Shawn, finish up here. We have an early start tomorrow."
I patted the sweat off my forehead while walking backstage, I thanked each crew member I walked past for the show, they each returned me with a simple thank you. I reached the backstage area, which mostly consisted of technical equipment and crew members, who were assisting my band in packing up. I headed towards my own guitar cases and popped one open, placing my base gently. Seating myself comfortably on a speaker, I pulled my phone from my carry on. The Australian time read 11:15, meaning it was 7:15 back home, I placed the IPhone up to my ear pressing speed dial. The sound crackled slightly, before I got a solid response.
