SHAWN'S P.OV:
She sat stiffly on her towel, her raven hair resting to her bare shoulders. I ran my calloused hand through my hair and made a low humming noise. I saw her glance at my chest before returning her sight to the people around us. Muffin girl still remained a mystery to me.

I let out a low grunt, "Did you do anything after your graduation?"

"Not really, I went to this girl Isla Fisher's house party. Kayleigh met Cameron there," she answered.

"Yes, yes they did. I saw some unfortunate things that night," I laughed.

Avery groaned and rolled over onto her stomach.

"It's odd, it is literally their second time together but they act as if they have been together for ages."

"Time sometimes isn't important in some relationships."

She peeked over her tanned sunglasses, "You are quite wise Mendes."

The way she said Mendes was indescribable, my heart rate quickened.

"Well, I write songs for a reason," I smirked.

"You write your own songs?" Avery questioned.

"Well, mostly, my friend Teddy helps me out."

She nodded, "What's it like being famous?"

"It's like a blanket," I said.

Avery stared at me blankly.

"It's comforting, but it can also be suffocating," I explained.

She looked at me slightly and shook her head. She fell down onto her towel and arched her back. My attention went from our conversation to her body.

"Shawn, my eyes are up here," she snickered.

I blushed slightly and rose from the warm sand. I stretched, yawning slightly. Avery's gaze scanned my body.

I coughed, "Avery my eyes are up here."

It was her turn to blush, she adjusted her bikini top and returned to her towel. I rummaged through Cameron's bag and produced a soccer ball. I juggled the black and white ball a few times before tossing it to Avery. She flinched as she caught the ball in her milky palms.

"Get up!" I instructed.

"Why?" she asked.

"We are going to play a game of soccer, since you won't give anything up about who Avery Hunter is we are going to compromise. If I score a goal you tell me something about yourself and vice versa."

"How will I know where to shoot?" She asked.

I picked up Cameron's Gucci hat and placed it a few metres away from a crushed water bottle. I used other objects to make my own goals. I searched through my tattered duffell. My hands finally caught hold of a elastic headband. I slipped it over my hair and turned to Avery. She placed the ball on the ground and gave me a fierce look.

"Bring it rich boy!"

I watched her clumsily dribble towards where I was standing, she kept her eyes on the ball, giving me the perfect opportunity to tap it through her legs. Within a few seconds I had scored. Her nose crunched slightly at my minor victory.

"I like to draw," she sighed.

I smiled, finally I was gaining access to Muffin Girl. While I was distracted Avery was quick with the ball and slotted it past me. She winked as she returned from her own goal.

"I don't like to eat tomatoes," I said.

"I like tomatoes," she smiled.

She tossed the ball at me and I used my head to bounce it over her. The ball landed in the middle of our goals. Sand sprayed Avery's back.

"That's not fair! I was tossing the ball at you to start!" she argued.

"I technically did start and I scored. Unfortunately you will have to tell me something else about yourself." I chided.

"I have gone to church every single Sunday of my life," she babbled, clearly wanting to move on from the topic of herself.

"Christian girl, didn't guess you for a believer. You seem so logical."

"I'm a lot more than you know Mendes."

"Then why don't you tell me-" I began.

The enthusiastic voice of Cameron cut off my speech as the small group bounded down the golden sand. Cameron held large paper bags, overflowing with our lunch. Avery laid another few towels around. Piper plopped down beside me, I was unsure whether the look on her face was aimed at me or the bags of food.

"Daddy gave us heaps of food Avery!" Piper babbled.

Cameron and Kayleigh arranged several delicious substances around us; a large slab of chocolate cake, a tray of muffins, two Caesar salads, golden hot chips, buttered bread, mineral waters, seared chicken and a large basket of something deep fried. Kayleigh passed around a few paper plates and plastic utensils. I speared a piece of seared chicken and carefully placed it on my plate. I inspected the morsel for any sign of sand. I gather a small amount of the salad and a few chips before beginning to eat.

Cameron scooped the food onto his plate, shovelling it into his mouth. It was amazing that he still ate the same as he did when he was thirteen. Piper nibbled in chips, whilst Kayleigh sipped at a mineral water. Avery had a similar plate to mine and was also looking intently at her food.

"Your dad is a nice guy," Cameron chewed.

Avery gave him a tight lip smile and returned to eating her own meal. We continued to eat in silence the only sounds being the laughter of other people and the squawk of sea birds. A chins of a cellphone interrupted the quiet atmosphere. Avery put the phone to her ear. She talked for a few moments before hanging up.

"I've got to go. Dad needs a hand at work," she apologised.

"Don't worry about it Avery." Kayleigh said.

"You can drop Pipes at home," she instructed Kayleigh, tossing her a bunch of keys.

"No problem. Call me after work."

Piper said something in approval at her sister's decision of leaving her in the presence of celebrities.

Avery gathered her things and shrugged her bag over her shoulder. She said her farewells.

I hesitated before jumping up from my comfortable position, "I'll walk you."
