Four hours. That's how long I've been laying here, staring at the ceiling, trying to think of what to do today. I've already wasted half the day by waking up at noon and laying here for four hours. I could play around with my drum kit. No, I don't have the motivation for that today. I could walk along the beach like those actors in the movies. No, it's no fun when you don't have a beautiful girl with you. I've lived in California for two years and haven't found one girl that's caught my eye. Isn't California where all the babes are supposed to be? Then why the fuck haven't I found one yet? Everyone tells me that I shouldn't be so hung up on this love thing, but I can't help it. I want to find that special girl and take her home to Australia. I want to fall in love with her and marry her. I'm ready for that, the only problem being that I can't find anyone.

I hear a grumbling noise come from my stomach. This is probably the longest I've ever gone without eating after waking up. With the thought of my daily events still flowing through my head along with babe-less California, I get out of bed and walk to the kitchen. On my way to the glorious room that holds my food I run into my little brother, Harry.

"Ashton! You're finally awake." Harry says.

"Yes I am. Hey, where's mom? I want her to make me some food." I say to him as I throw my arm over his shoulder and continue walking to the kitchen. Harry and I are vey close, unlike my little sister, Lauren, and I. She's at the age where she's 'too cool' for her big brother.

"She's outside talking to that one lady again." He responds.

"What one lady?"

"The one that lives a few houses down."

"I need specifics here Harry."

"The one that has the granddaughter that flew in today."

"Oh that lady. Isn't her name like Cindy or something?" I never actually met her. I was told about her, though.

"Yeah I think so."

We stand there in silence for a few seconds before I speak again, "How long have they been out there talking?"

"Only a few minutes. Cindy just got home from the airport with her granddaughter and mom caught her before she went inside so she could meet her." I just nod my head in response and then search through the cabinets to try and find food. After minutes of searching I don't find anything, so I go back to my room to find shoes and a shirt to go out and buy something. As I walk out of my room I grab my beanie to cover my mane of hair on top of my head. I don't care how hot it is outside, this hair needs to be tamed. Just when I think I made it out of the house safely without my mom seeing me, she waves me over to where she's standing. I let out a groan and slowly walk over to her.

"Ashton, I want you to meet Cindy." My mom says.

"Hi." I say to Cindy and hold out my hand for her to shake.

"Hello, Ashton. It's good to finally meet you." She says, grabbing my hand and shaking it. I just nod my head and smile at her.

"Where are you going?" My mother asks me.

"I was going to go get some food. I'm starving and there's nothing to eat in the house." I say to her.

"GRANDMA!" I hear a girl yell from down the street. I look past Cindy to see a girl walking towards us. She is gorgeous. She has long blonde hair with hints of brown in it. She's short, not too short, but short and when she gets closer I catch a glimpse of her beautiful hazel green eyes.

"Yes?" Cindy says.

"Where's your food?" The girl asks. Man do I feel her pain.

"Oh shoot. I meant to go grocery shopping and I forgot. I'm sorry. I'll go tomorrow." Cindy says.
