The next month went kind of slow. We won most games and the band got first place in every competition we competed in. Soon, it was senior night. I arrived at school a bit early so I could find a book for a research project in English. Out of the corner of my eye I saw James waving me over. I walked over and he said "come with me." I shrugged and followed him the restroom. "We gotta talk," he announced. He pulled out his bag and once again offered. I shrugged. He said, "Just take it." So, I did. I lit it up. When I started coughing, James laughed. "I remember my first time," he said as he lit his blunt. I breathed it in. The room was silent for a while. Soon, I began to feel kind of funny. James said, "Okay, look, I need help. Can you loan me 20 bucks?" I shrugged, "what for?" James laughed "weed, Parker, you know what." I sighed and got out my wallet and threw it at him. "Don't ask for anymore though, okay?" James smiled, "Thanks bro, and don't worry, I won't." A few minutes later, the bell rang. I went to wash my hands when I looked in the mirror. My eyes were red. Shit, didn't think about that. James and I decided to skip homeroom that day, as well as 2nd block. The high was mostly gone around lunch. I walked outside and sat down at the table with Tailgate. Tailgate looked at me and sighed, "you smoked pot with James didn't you." I shrugged, "my eyes still red?" He shook his head, "Nah, but spray this, you can smell it on you." I sprayed his clone. "Where's Finley and Meghan?" I asked. "Meghan was crying, so her and Finley went to the bathroom to talk." Tailgate said worriedly. I frowned. I hope she's okay. The rest of the day went slowly, including band. When I saw Meghan, she looked really upset. She walked up to me before class and said "I have to tell you something after school." I had nodded and she walked away. When the bell finally rang she came over and said "let's take a walk. We went outside and began to walk to the track field. Everything was quiet until she whispered, "I'm pregnant." I stopped dead. "Wait, what?" I said shocked. "You heard me," she said. She started crying and I hugged her. "It's my fault," she said, "I shouldn't have started with you like that." I sighed, "did you tell your parents." She nodded, "yeah. They aren't happy of course." How the hell am I supposed to tell my dad? "I'll tell my dad tonight," I suggested. She nodded. We walked back to the school hand in hand, in silence. Nerves began to build up inside me for the night that lay ahead.
